This is the masterpiece of Anthony Phillips in my humble opinion. It is the most innovative of all his works. This is where he finally said damn them all. I will write what I like.. So many beautiful changes and he keeps it coming with his musical virtuosity. Just great music that will live on. Thank God for composers like Anthony Phillips.

What an extraordinary piece of music this is. At times I hear French composer Michel Legrand (2:19), Mike Oldfield (12:01, 12:25), even Tony Banks (2:50, 21:02). But there is no doubt: this is pure, unadulterated Anthony Phillips at his very best. The man is a true master of harmony. With his music he can steer your emotions as deftly as a conductor's baton. Love every moment of it. ❤❤❤

I have been searching for this music, I listened to it while writing my Masters Thesis. I listened to this over and over again!!! This is perfect music for serious thinking and writing!!! I was writing on the work of Jacques Derrida and Maurice Blanchot. That study enabled me to finally understand the‘meaning of life’ in the way I approached it. Afterwards, I didn’t know that I had anything else to worry about: therefore, I dropped out of the PhD program and went in search of a real world vocation. Luckily, I found one: one that enabled me to help many families that needed the financial assistance that I secured for them. I am grateful that I managed to find a way to be a productive member of society: it wasn’t easy to find...

Certainly one of my top favourite albums by AP, along with The Geese & The Ghost. It merges most of what I enjoy particularly in his music. New classical music for the 21st century. I really wish he had done more like this.

Thanks for sharing this. I discovered AP circa 1976, and own all albums except Meadows of Englewood, which I haven't been able to find. Great music, though my favorites will always include Geese and the Ghost, Sides, and Wise After the Event. AP played on a Steve Hackett album. Steve said he wouldn't even pick up a 12-string in AP's presence.

So enjoying that still people discover this gem, that I bought at his first release in CD in early nineties, a brilliant masterwork between orchestra and studio with a cross classical to new-age influences, unfortunately so forgotten. It deserve to be better known. Merci
@katemurphy19154 жыл бұрын
markusmala Yes, I discovered this in the early nineties also. That was during one of my uncontrollable visits to a record store. Truly uncontrollable. I was still in Graduate school and as broke as my classmates were. All of us probably took years to climb out of that debt...

Very Tangerine Dream in places. Wonder what would happen if Phillips and Banks did a composition together? No doubt Antony would be shut out with Tony taking the lead and implementing all his melodies and poor Antony being reduced to a couple of bars at the end lol !

Unfortunately Anthony Phillips always walked in the shadows of Banks, Collins, Gabriel, Hackett and Rutherford, although his musical output is one of the most exciting one of all Genesis members. Very fine track!
