How to improve UFC judging... Each round you pick a clear winner, or no one gets the point on 3 criteria These criteria shape what we want to see in a fight: agression, strikes, and ground control 1.) Who goes forward and presses the action 2.) Strikes/damage volume/technique 3.) Ground control time/technique (not cage control) Sure you can win by being a counterpuncher... but you better finish cuz you won't win on points. Sure you can submit from the bottom, but you better win because you aren't going to win on points. Sure you can rest by controlling someone on the cage, but we hate seeing it, so you aren't going to win on points.

@@StevekatRokhampson It was a close round. Think a draw was stupid, especially when the judges can't even agree upon the rounds. Highest criteria for judging is trying to finish a fight with damage, submissions and then effective striking with an aggressive approach followed at the end with activity during ground control... Jan's leg kicks were effective but didn't see it enough to win round 1 when Ankalaev also landed good shots.

feel sorry for him but someone was going to feel some type of way and be left out and it literally makes the most sense that it was him. Glover was number 1 in line and was dealt a sh!tty hand having to fight a completely different style opponent he wasn’t training for or be left of a earned title shot. what were they gonna do Glover Vs Anthony again? we saw how that went plus Anthonys last fight was a loss. Glovers was a loss too but he gave who really is the rightful champ a run for his money and was a couple seconds away from earning the victory. and Hills been on the right track and has multiple wins behind him. sucks for Smith but Glover Vs Hill was the right choice.

The reason, I believe, everyone favored Ankeliev is that, as in a real fight outside in society, the fight is won by who's winning at the end. But in 'sport' fighting, particularly UFC/MMA and boxing, you have the 10 point must system. If there were a bonus of some kind for whoever's winning at the end of the fight, it would be more comprehensible to fans and fighters, and more common to see that fighter awarded the victory.

The thing about judges being ex fighters is that they can have a bias about who is fighting better. France v England just happened, England played better football, but its the goals that matter. I think this is part of Paddy and Jared, which I have too, but I've been saying it's close fight and people should calm down. I scored R1 for Jared, though I wrote 'Unsure Lean Jared', but the thing is that Jared fought better, Paddy has big holes in his game - to tell truth they're both mediocre fighters, so there's a bias of I'm not purely looking at Damage, Effective Striking, instead I have a bias when I watch striking based on how well someone is striking and defending, not what their striking is actually achieving. It's important in a sport that doesn't have goals that you don't have a bias about who is better. Sport must be about who achieves results. That's vital, ancient issue of things where there isn't clear scoring cannot become focused on judging how well something suits the textbook. That's how things like fake martial arts or niche things like Ballet come about is that it's just judging itself according to how it's supposed to be. MMA prides itself on being what's actually effective in a cage no matter what - just simply what wins? And if you have judging that becomes about what is the better fighting, better striking, better defense etc instead of being focused on the actual scoring and judged by people who couldn't care less about how it looks or how out of textbook some defense is, then it stops being about what is actually better fighting in practise regardless of how something looks.
