ABOUT THIS VIDEO
Join me at the Alan R. Pearlman Foundation booth as I take questions, help people program an ARP 2600 synthesizer, give tips, recommend practice techniques and patch / perform a few sounds. We also raffled off a ARP 2600 (signed by me) that was generously donated by Korg USA. It was a fun day at the ARP booth spreading the joy of programming and performing on vintage analog synthesizers.

ABOUT ANTHONY
Anthony's musical touch as both composer and performer is connected with some of the most influential creative minds over the last 40 years. He’s composed and conducted original orchestral scores for over 80 feature films including Young Guns , Internal Affairs , The Man From Elysian Fields , 15 Minutes and Planes, Trains & Automobiles , been commissioned by the Los Angeles Philharmonic for his symphonic work "In the Family Way", written over one thousand TV commercials in a myriad of musical styles, co-founded Levels Audio Post (LA's premiere post production facility) and performed and arranged on big-box-office films and influential hit records such as Michael Jackson's Thriller .
His extensive work as a young arranger, orchestrator and performer for Quincy Jones , Jack Nitzsche , Lamont Dozier , Arthur Rubenstein and Giorgio Moroder was vital in launching his own career. His early years pioneering modular analog synthesizers along with his wide-ranging music scholarship positioned Anthony at the center of the music technology revolution. He attended the University of Southern California School of Music as a piano and composition major.

You are the most humble and great person i have ever seen and i like that you don't look weird at people when they say that they don't have a real arp but have it in software from either Cherry Audio or Arturia. I was very impressed with your Helichopter sound in the Namm video and at first i thought well that is simple when you made that rotor flapping but then you brought it to another level with the engine ramping up sound which i never thought was possible to do on a single synth..

Fantastic. Magical Anthony takes a lead solo in nighttime forest territory lolo. My jaw landed on the floor. I could listen to you tweak one of these for a whole hour (hint). You're a good instructor. It's great you and ARP Foundation are working together like this. I like how you request the audience to think in very basic terms of architecture behind the Sound. This was fun. I wish I could have been standing there. Thanks guys

Your fondness of the ARP 2600 is really making me want to add one even though I don't know enough about sound design to truly use it to make the expense worthwhile 😂 I am slowly learning the basics on a MS-20 mini, though.

Great video,as always, thank you! I love these and I’m trying to learn. I’ve just bought the B Arp2600 as any others are out of my price range. I’m using this to learn properly so I know my way around my system 8 and korg M1. These have so much capability. 😊

If I can somehow make it to the next NAMM show, I'll be hanging out wherever Anthony will be. I'm learning so much about my Korg ARP 2600. I have the original patch book (available for free at Korg's website), along with another patch book, but I'd pay good money for an all-new patch book by the master himself, Anthony Marinelli!

One set of sounds which I would love to see a tutorial video on is how to create an electric guitar lead sound using a synthesizer. And that could be a few different types of guitar lead.

ARP needs to come back. The new age of synthesizers is now. They should start again with the Solaris and continue from there. No more Korg or Behringer clones. ARP deserves a new life. ❤

When I see people who sit on a synth and not bother to turn knobs, that's where I lose interest. Half the fun is in the experimenting whilst timing your tweaks to get some great movement. Sure there are people who excel at tickling the ivories, but a synth screams to be tweaked and that's why they exist. Quick fingers to get something that cannot simply done by "hitting" keys. Thx for the upload.

It sounds pretty close to the Arp 2600, and is a ton of fun to create sounds on. For the price it's a no-brainer, and if you get the Christmas tree version (the one with all the coloured LED's) the colours actually are super helpful in recognizing what's what in the dark :) The biggest difference is the reverb, which is either a different sounding actual spring reverb, or in the cheaper version a digital emulation, neither of which sound like the real Arp 2600, but they do sound great in their own right.

@payt01 arp2600 used at least 3 different Springs and had variations in the Amp after them. Long, short, 3 spring, 2 spring, noisy, less noisy, muddy, cleaner, many variations. Which is the "right"? Less is often more I find. My b2600 gray spring gets muddy above 30%, xmas version is cleaner. Spring coil must point upward for best performance btw. I am replacing my spring tank with a 3 spring long. Also got the DelVerb pedal which is fantastic with b2600, bodelD, pro800... maybe the right one is always the one you got at hand. B2600 can also play 2, and more tricks. But I consider 2600M. Not bad price.
