This is why the sport is evolving I prefer younger coaches than old ones for this exact reason and explanation

Let me give you an example right now I have shin splints in late October. That’s really early. Feel like I get run into the ground. As a sprinter (60-200 mainly) doing 10x300’s

I've just started adding your feed the cats training and principles to my son who plays football (soccer) and before his match yesterday I took him to the side and had him do 5 short sprints, and he played better than ever, he was faster, sharper, more agile , he out ran and out worked every other player on the pitch and got man of the match. Amazing stuff.

Agree with coach Tony here. Given the legal ramifications coaches these days have to show due care with athletes under their guidance, keep in mind what we witnessed with gymnastics and if I was a coach today I'd be very mindful of my athlete's well being as a paramount priority.

Tony, grew up in southern IL playing multiple sports and a coach's son. I'm a cat at heart, but still feel have moments where the workhorse wants to come out. As a masters level sprinter, would you recommend anything more than RPR and an atomic workout prior to competing? Thanks so much for the wisdom and information you share.

How is it possible to get trained by you? I am 15 years old, live in Germany and want to mainly do Long and Triple -Jump but I also want to be a crazy sprinter.

Would the Atomic workout be recommended on the day of a track meet?
@coachtonyholler Жыл бұрын
We don’t do a formal atomic workout but my guys will basically do one to get ready to sprint. Our 2 sprints might be 4x1 handoffs.
@roberthickey4201 Жыл бұрын
Would doing the atomic workout for a warmup be advisable at the beginning of basketball practice daily?
@coachtonyholler Жыл бұрын
I would do it 2-3 times a week. Yes, if done CORRECTLY, it would become a perfect warmup AND give you valuable feedback on the health of your players. And, would make players more ATHLETIC. One school in MN actually did it on game day.
@roberthickey4201 Жыл бұрын
@@coachtonyholler appreciate the feedback. You really have me thinking. I’ve been running our guys a lot for conditioning for the season but we still always seem to be tired in games. What I’m doing isn’t working.
@coachtonyholler Жыл бұрын
@@roberthickey4201 FTC teams do ZERO “conditioning”. Tired is the enemy, not the goal.

Does this transfer throughout the year? Where other days might involve weightlifting, lactic acid workouts, etc. Still 2 days per week sprinting when those other components come in and out of the training schedule?
@coachtonyholler Жыл бұрын
Yes, we like to get at least 2 sessions every week. However, some weeks in the spring doesn’t allow for 2 speed sessions due to weather, schedule, etc. it’s possible to go a week with nothing but meets, bad weather, and x-factor.

Young kids can will sprint all the time. If they are motivated! It's alls about motivation. Motivation is essentially everything! As we age we lose motivation for some reason. I mean true motivation. This is NOT the kind of spirit 'I want it more' or 'I want to improve'. I talk about being so motivated to want to do something more than every other thing in life! I think only very young people (kids) have this😊
