Lara’s mother tongues are Italian (on her mother’s side) and French (on her Father’s side; from Belgium) but she is also fluent in English, Spanish as well as quite good in Russian, Portuguese, German and even dabbles in Greek, Hebrew and other languages. Lara is indeed the writer of this song which she adapted from a much older Italian song. She once described herself as a song writer who happens to sing as well and so has written many of her most popular songs herself. Actually, her dad is from the Flemish side of Belgium. Heard her speak a few words of Dutch. She's got the accent down (I'm a native Flemish Belgian myself), but doesn't speak it fluently because she spent her early childhood growing up in Italy, and then studied in Brussels, speaking mostly French.

@CaptJericho Ok, but being Italian...a European, I am so thrilled that a girl with Sicilian roots...has made it to the level she has as in the US, not many singers outside of N/ America, the UK and Australia, ahve made it internationally. Indeed, Lara has not made it big in the US, which is a goal for many, but her songs have, which I find a shame. So, Canadian citizen is wonderful, I wish I was one. but her blood is from Flanders (a part of Belgium//Holland) and Italian/Sicily and I am proud of her.

salut les gars,très bien pour ce championnat de chant mais Lara est HORS CONCOURS c'est une des plus grandes vocaliste et interprète de ces 30 dernières années. Since you like the vibe of this song, I think you'd both _really_ enjoy her cover of the beloved-to-Italians song Pedere L'amore. (I get a kick out of watching reactions by Italians to this performance. To say they approve would be an understatement. 😃) Big belts + her usual amazing ability to embody the emotion. She "talks with her hands" throughout in a very Italian way. Normally (being a writer) I always recommend subtitles when we don't understand the language in a particular song, to really understand the singer's performance. (Like, Je suis malade, was even more affecting for me, having access to the translation. Those lyrics, whew!) HOWEVER, as great as the beautiful lyrics to Pedere L'amore are, I would recommend the following vid for a reaction. 1) A youtube user worked the magic of AI digital enhancement on it, so it looks and sounds really nice and 2) having to read subtitles on this one really distracted me from Fabian's whole-body physical/vocal presentation. I know she spent first five years in Italy, the her dad took the family back to the French-speaking area of Belgium. I don't know for absolute sure, but it seems she became fluent in English and Spanish very young. As far as I know, she didn't spend time in znorth America until she relocated to Quebec for career purposes at about 18 or 19. But I'm not certain. If I could read French, I'd have more luck piecing her bio together. 😃 But, sadly, I am not a polyglot with sn amazing brain like Fabian's. 😢
