Imagine how awesome of a game toontown could be if all these different developer teams worked together and put all their ideas in one toontown game

In a manner of speaking, these games wouldn't be so great if all these ideas were shoehorned into one game. Hear me out. It sounds like a hot take, but think about it. A lot of these development issues happened because of a lack of direction, poor focus, or arguably bad ideas. And I mean this in the most objective sense. In their respective bubbles, some of these Toontown clones and AUs are really interesting and fascinating. You can play them once, and be glad they exist. *But having all of these good ideas together in one game also means all their bad ideas come together in one game.* Clones like Sugar Rush happened because developers had different opinions and ideas. Servers like Rewritten and Corporate Clash are successful because despite their differences in approach, they both had incredible focus and never held themselves back, never contradicting themselves. This kind of development ecosystem is non-existent in other games. Maybe Unreal Tournament surpasses it, but that's it. Very few, and they usually turn out amazing. It's fascinating to think how amazing these ideas could be consolidated properly, in a perfect world, but equally as fascinating how well these ideas exist because they're separate. Allowed to be a single player game. Allowed to be a farm simulator. Cogs invading playgrounds and HQs in one, and Cogs hosting dance clubs and pizzarias you can visit in another. Stuff that if it had to be in one game, it would have been a mess!

Hello! Its Mr. Hypno, from TTSR, First, thank you for the shout-out and giving your thought on my art, makes me feel happy finally seeing proper reactions and not just discord comments! I also wanted to give some insights into my time at TTSR in list form! 1. So, I wasn't from the Tooniversal team, I was from another Toontown server, Market crash, that crumbled to many times for its own good, so I didn't know the toonaversal controversy! 2. Yes, I will confess the art was bad, but that was just because I was just getting the hang of character designs and also using a digital tablet, I was just drawing the request of one of the head creative leads ideas for the cogs, others also wanted to quickly release the first official drafts of the art to show the public we had ideas, (side note; if i remember correctly, I was, at the time of being there, one of the only able digital artists at the time, so i was designing everything everybody wanted and was trying to work in my ideas too.) 3. my job was to design cog concepts, there was even art of a Buildbot HQ which was temporarily shown! you can check any art i did for TTSR on my art Instagram! 4. The sellbot concept actually had nothing to do with Sugar rush, It was a personal project i only pitched to the other team, though, the idea was never fully expanded or accepted. The model head was again just a personal thing, I was just trying to learn 3d sculpting! 5.I was also gone a few months before the team split, so why they closed, idk. Now looking back, I don't think sugar rush had much of a future plan besides "We have new cog type, new candy gag, and whatnot", I'll end my thoughts by saying it wasn't a bad or good team, it was just.... a Meh or Okay team, idk. Hope yall enjoy this little bit of insight!

I work in construction, They should have done the following. Labourer / Decorator / Joiner / Foreman / Electrician / plumber / roofer / Architect / surveyor. Honestly not that hard to do a Construction bot though I'd personally call it trade bots as TRADE is a well known concept for all of these "trades" they just gather on a construction site which you could call TradeHQ but have the side dungeon called TradeBoT Construction site. HQ could have had minigames where you had to fix things in a certain time and if you failed they would notice and catch you making you have to fight more cogs on more failures making it harder for you to beat the cogs at the end that come out on the boss fight.

Paused at 14:35 Now that's really fascinating, I never knew about some of the things that you spoke about when it came to Sugar Rush, and honestly, I knew it was doomed for the moment they decided to branch away from TVS because you just can't successfully create and run a new toontown server based off of hating another. Ironically, even though TVS has a lot of unfinished things and stuff that needs polishing up, there's still constant working going on. It's a shame so many went to sugar rush because they actually did decently, but the people needing direction left without the people that actually gave direction thus bombing their chancing in my personal opinion. (And that's not even including the fact some of the people that went into Sugar Rush was the reason that TVS had drama to begin with, but I'm not going to get into that...) Paused at 25:10 Hah, I know who bought it and did that, twas funny. I shall never tell though. What I will say though is that it wasn't bought specifically for that reason, and more than just the peach dog had been on that domain around that time Paused at 31:06 I also got shown these too! I genuinely really loved the red light green light, I'd love to play that myself eventually, I think it'd be a great addition to toontown Paused at 39:10 Actually if I'm not mistaken I think that was on purpose, going through tunnels, and triggering different things made it randomly change, even when it felt like it shouldn't have - It was just a way to confuse people, seems to have worked rather well lol Paused at 43:52 Yeah it's a shame because since the whole Sugar Rush incident, we've just been in need of creative team members. We can still do updates with giving older things back into the game for events and such, but we can't do massive modelling stuff as we don't have anyone that can do that currently. We have the ideas, we just need the people Paused at 1:21:12 Yeah I don't really know why they changed the name of it, I much prefer toonfest - and a thing that really surprises me which I hadn't heard about before so thanks for the info on that; they really delayed it just because of it's name? What? Paused at 1:27:55 It might be because the same people (not all of them, but 1 or 2 of them) worked on all of them lol Inspiration from themselves, and was given full permission from the original creators (Not all of them, as one did have an angry complaining session in the TVS discord, but you can't expect to make everyone happy) Paused at 1:28:26 Yeah those pieces of music has been on stand-by for an extremely long time and needed to be implemented and just never got round to doing it - I actually helped push that into the game as it was very long over-due and I like to try get things that have been game or finished and so on to be pushed into live servers as I know people worked hard on it. (Plus the fact the person who originally made them decided to leak them all in a video saying it would never get added which was false but that's besides the point) Paused at 1:30:45 Actually, maybe not inside the actual game server itself, but TVS officially got unbanned after being denied access to the official toontown sub-reddit after almost a full year worth of trying. A lot of work went into that due to the leak you mentioned about around the start of the video had came out (and got fixed before the ban itself was actually put into place) so it's been a roller coaster on that front, was in talks about getting that all sorted since I believe August so that was an on-going battle which is now all sorted :) Finished video / Final thoughts Honestly that was really enjoyable to watch, a few things learned, a few things revisited, and all in all a very entertaining video to witness. It's amazing the amount of things that can be seen within such a short time frame (video length I mean), and I look forward to see what this year (2022) will bring

Wow Anthony, you are really good at making these kinds of videos especially since they are really long and are of such high quality too. This is something I could never imagine myself doing or even learning how to do. I don’t even have any sort of advanced editing software (but I do plan on changing that). I just edit in the most simple of ways. These past few videos show a lot of talent. I’m sure this one especially had a lot of layers and the many complications like the ones you showed us in the past. You always talk about a lot of interesting things in these videos and I can’t believe I actually watched the whole thing in one sitting. Your style and passion makes them really entertaining and comedic to watch, and this is all for such a small game like Toontown. Keep up the great work! (I also think it’s great that you gave your girlfriend a shoutout in the August section where it belongs. I’m sure she deserves it from you). I’m so sad that I missed the entirety of 2021 for TTR because I was banned. All those new features and events would have been really cool to experience first-hand when they were first released.

This video is fantastic at packing in everything! One thing though, at 1:00:47 that isn't the real concept art. It was my 3D modeled version of the original concept. Other than that LOL, this video was a great summary.

Sugar Rush really was a whole mess. The leads did not know what they were doing, and acted like smartasses. They did not listen to team members that wanted improvements. Case in point: The source. You are partially correct, they wanted to use Python 3 converted Toontown House source, which was based on the TTR 2014 source leak. However, they also wanted to use Anesidora server code. It's wasn't a good decision to use an early private source with Disney server code. As you would probably guess, this Frankenstein combination did work well, as getting the source working in the state it was in was INFURIATING. Team leaders and general staff were dumbfounded by all of the issues that popped up, and that they have never seen these issues in Toontown before. They were eventually sick and tired with this madness and they proposed to change the source to School House or Open Toontown, which WAS based more closely on Toontown Online source code, and could easily be modified with Disney's server code if they wanted. The team lead for technical (Prince Frizzy, if I recall correctly) reject this proposal MANY times. Why? Apparently because "the source was fine" (because broken beyond repair means good.) In most teams, if a person can not do their job, the upper heads usually impose repercussions, including reassignment or even termination. ...But not this team! Instead they treat the general team like they were the idiots, adding that the techinal team lead knew what they were doing. _They never got the source working._ And this happened with every little suggestion that they did not like. Instead of talking with the team and trying to compromise, they flat out reject the suggestion. What's the saddest part was that these people were really talented, and have done great work for other servers in the past. It's a real shame that the team leaders did not know anything about leadership or management. Sugar Rush will go down in Toontown history of how not to perform leadership in a private server, or hell any project. THEY were the reasons why Sugar Rush never saw the light of day; these people should never lead another project ever again, or until they learn to actually work with people.

"Even if imported to Python 3" No! Never do this to Python 2 code! There specific things that have been changed between Python 2.7.18 and Python 3.1+ (Note: Never use Python 3.0). Although there is a module to help convert Python 2 code to Python 3 code, you should not trust it to catch everything. The biggest change between Python 2 and 3 other than how unicode is handled, in my opinon, is how range and print are handled. print is no longer able to be used without parentheses. Range does not generate a list anymore and functions very similar to xrange from Python 2. In addition, .pyc files are no longer created in the same directory as its .py counterpart. Instead, a new folder called __pycache__ is created and all .pyc are placed in there and extra text is appended to the end of the name from the corresponding. py file for the .pyc file. Keep in mind Python 3 was pretty much inferior to Python 2 despite having more options and functionality for many years. So, some people still have a strong distaste and/or negative view of Python 3. Python 3 has not fully eclipsed Python 2.7.18 (i.e. the final official version of Python 2) but is very close now as of writing this. I remember actually there being a point in time where many people would tell you to avoid using Python 3 whenever possible. If you use older programs and source code or upgrading to Python 3 is not practical, Python 2 is still viable.
