He’s actually using 3 snare drums going. One traditional in the center, then one upside down on his right that he “scratches” with, then a 3rd turned on its side on the floor that he has a pedal to hit. Crazy creativity in his setups

Hey Anthony, he’s using a snare drum, upside down to make that scratching sound. The snare wire, is what gives the drum its distinct sound, but is usually on the bottom of the drum. Thanks for the reaction, ✌🏻

You were asking about the upside down snare he was using for the scratches. When that has tension is how you get the sharp snare sound from it. If its loose then it sounds more like a tom. That piece is just basically metal wires that are under tension or not. So he's using the stick to make that scratch or shaker sound.

On his right side he has a traditional snare drum-though it's upside down. What kind of blows my mind this time is he's doing a horizontal 'scratching motion' on the snares-typically on the bottom of the drum. So along with coordinating everything else which are basically vertical motions -up and down-when he goes to that side snare he has to switch to a totally different side to side motion. Which he does with perfect synchronicity with all the other stuff he's doing. Whew.

The drum pedal is a duallist where you can switch between a single pedal or double pedal by hitting levers. Other foot is on the hi hat.

Its an upside down snare drum and from the beginning he is scratching the drum stick on the actual "snares" , the metal piece on the bottom of the snare drum. It's just flipped over and gives that sand paper , rattle noise when he runs the drum sticks over it. He scratched it the whole song.

Also, it took me like two watches of this video before, but he's dragging his right stick across a snare chain to get that scratchy sound. He does it in another song (can't remember which one).
