SUGA's line 'go to Hawaii 'was a direct comment towards a Korean 'rapper 'that had been hating on them (not a successful person, I won't dignify it by naming them). Hawaii was where this person was born so he was telling him to 'go home'. There was a whole thing at the time where they were being accused by these people of selling out to become 'idols', and this Cypher was a response to it.

RM and Suga had some things to get off their chest on this Cypher so J-Hope kinda let them have it and took a back seat in this one. RM and Suga were highly criticized by old friends and others in the scene b/c they were underground rappers who became 'pop' in their eyes. Then on top of that one rapper basically called them sellouts and girls on a radio station to their face. So then they blessed us with this cypher.

This cypher has probably one of the best RMs verses ever. Suga killed the cadence and flow of his verse but I think RM is SOOO underrated in this cypher. His voice, the rhymes, his cadence… he killed it. This is my favorite cypher out of all four 🙃

This is my favorite of the 4 cyphers because of how the rap lines just goes off without much of a filter. I swear Suga doesn't need to breathe when he's going crazy toward the end of his verse and he's basically just flexing at that point. BTS seriously have some of the best rappers regardless of language especially when you look at how RM is able to switch seamlessly from English back in Korean without losing anything with his flow or cadence. If you continue with the cyphers you'll see how much they've grown as rappers to become where they're at now. I can't leave out j-hope either because he's the glue that kind of holds these pieces together and allows the switch up between the rappers to flow smoothly.

Korean is a perfect language for rapping, it's true. The way the language is built and how it sounds blends so well with rapping cadences. And Koreans have centuries of pent rage being sandwiched between horrible greedy superpowers so hip hop is massively appealing to us. Hey new subscriber here, loved this reaction! Yeah the translation is not right on the opening line.... it isn’t “on the track dick” 😂 the name of the song is “Triptych” so whoever translated it didn’t quite get it right. Sometimes the lyric videos aren’t entirely accurate esp on some of the channels. Looking forward to your next reaction. Edit: triptych means 1a : a picture (such as an altarpiece) or carving in three panels side by side. b : something composed or presented in three parts or sections especially : trilogy. So basically Supreme Boi was introducing the 3 rappers who were gonna present their rap on the track as unique verses that comprise something bigger together.

What I love about the rappers is how different they are from each other and they each fly in a different lane so there's not a direct competition or comparison when they rap on the same track. Overall I vibe with J-hopes solo music best, but I don't view them as better than one another. They're all 🔥🔥🔥 in their unique way which is how it should be!

the reason why jhope doesn't have that much line is because this was suga and rm's answer to a rapper who told them on cam that they were not real rappers but idols because they wear make up and all. Jhope gave his hyungs the opportunity to clapback to that.

Three of them have their own unique rap style that complete each other. RM is more to old school hip hop with versatile rap and amazing lyrics. He constantly use Korean and English and playwords in two languages. He also has good breathing technique. Suga is more into modern rap. He is fast with good control in beat. Both of them were already established as underground rapper before joining bighit. Jhope learned rapping in his trainee time. At that time, his only dorm mates were RM and Suga, and after that more rapper joined them. They liked to drop freestyle anytime in dorm. Saw them, Jhope later learned rapping. He has good rhythm and flow (well, RM and Suga are also good at flow). That's because he is also a dancer, so his rap is more rhythmical and his unique rap also got influence from his South accent. They can't be compared to each other to search who is the best because the three of them are the best with their own style. Btw, don't skip the last part where Suga shouted "Yeah!!"

There's a saying for the Cyphers: -RM explains (with a sharpshooter's focus) why your rap skills are sh*t. -J-Hope comforts you (while flowing all over the beat) and tells you that it's ok to be sh*t. -and Suga (just massacres all your hopes and dreams) and tells you to stop trying, stay down, and stop wasting everyone's time b/c all your rap will ever be is sh*t. I don't know if you saw my comment on the previous cypher but this song was definitely fueled by some anger. A month or two before this dropped, RM and Suga were at some hip hop interview thing where they were insulted and got a lot of disrespect for joining an "idol" group (J-hope wasn't there). You can see what happened at the interview here (kzbin.info/www/bejne/m6fJf3V7mqibm80). So you can see they took a lot of shots in this one at more established rappers. The line "go back to Hawaii" actually directly refers to one of the ones who dissed them (he was born in Hawaii). RM has an IQ of 148 and he's BIG on word play. Most translations can't really do it justice and he sometimes writes lines with layers that you only fully understand if you're fluent in both Korean AND English. I heard that when he was still an underground rapper (still a young teen at the time), it got to the point that others were afraid to battle him because of how savage his lines could get. Since then, a lot of his raps tend to be more mellow and introspective. A while back, when he got shaded for not rapping fast, he responded with Joke. The official MV doesn't have English subs but here's a version that does (kzbin.info/www/bejne/hamwo3WEd7yeqa8). I think you'll really like that one too. Suga can definitely get SAVAGE when you get on his bad side. And he can go FAST. He calls out hip hop/rappers in a few other songs too. Check out the song Agust D and Daechwita. J-hope started off as a street dancer and didn't even begin rapping until after he joined BTS. But with RM and Suga, he definitely learned from the best. Although I don't know much about rap, I think the reason his flows are so interesting and he can do switch ups so quickly might have to do with his background in dancing. I wonder if he has a different sense of/feel for rhythm that contributes. Btw, BTS WORLD Official is a channel for their mobile game. Their actual channel is BANGTANTV.

By the way, this song was released in 2014. The group was just one year old, but they were very pissed at some people who dissing on them, specially an older korean rapper who offended them publicly. They said nothing at the occasion, but this cypher was a very proper answer that was releades some months after.

It's not a good translation in the beginning when Supreme Boi comes in he says whats up its Supreme Boi on this Triptych. Meaning: A triptych is a work of art that is divided into three sections, or three carved panels that are hinged together

This cypher was directed to a rapper named Bfree (thats why in suga's verse, RM said 'go back to hawaii' because bfree lived in hawaii for some time). They had an interview with him and they shaded RM and Yoongi for being idols and "betraying" underground hiphop. Thats why its also as if Jhope was making way for the other 2 and letting them spit all the bars

Yessss Cypher 2 is my favourite because of the genuine anger in it, followed by cypher 4 because of the complete lack of anger lmao I mean, cypher 1 they were what? 18? J-hope only started rapping a couple years before that because he joined the group as a underground street dancer, which is why i think cypher 2 is such a jump in quality Also, fyi Rapmonster goes by RM these days, for 'real me', i geuss he feels its more mature. Hes also said its because hes a person, not a monster.
