Bad take, 1st season of tokyo ghoul is a masterpiece, people only really hate on season 2 and season 3 and the reason simply being because it deviated from the manga.

People here are dumb. Season 2 is the only one that deviated from canon. As a follow up from Season 2, it's awesome. As a proper adaptation, garbage. 3 and 4 were accurate. If you don't like them, you also didn't like that part of the manga.

The rock is more on appeal and , this version shows more how broken Kaneki's perception of himself both as a human and a ghoul in the entirety of the anime
