That dangling strap is game accurate, it's his safety latch when he boards the chopper, the silver box is a cassette player, and accurate, along with the wires, the ball hinge on the mechanical arm is supposed to be a gunmetal color, so I guess black is ok. His beard and hair are a bit off, but it's acceptable I guess, if you ever get the chance, check out the very first solid snake they did, and cyborg ninja, they are still some of the best figures play arts has ever put out IMO

You sort of have to wriggle in the holster peg from an angle, it took a while to get it right but once you figure out how to do it you can keep repeating it.

Great review, Anthony. This really bums me out to see how this figure ended up. I've got the other two versions of the MGSV figures; the Ground Zeroes sneaking suit and the jungle fatigues version, and those are really well done, I don't understand how they could've messed this one up but they did. I hope you can find the other two figures for cheap because I really want to see your input on them, that is if this figure didn't turn you off Metal Gear for good.

I agree with Anthony, the gun holster is an issue. I have the PAK Ground Zeroes and Venom Snake Camo and the holsters just wont hold in well. Especially with the pistol inside. :-/

Great review, awful figure. When this video started I thought "hey that's a pretty nice sculpt" but my approval didn't last long. I will never understand how they can release an articulated figure and mess it up this much. What's the point of having joints if they completely destroy the character's appearence while not functioning properly at the same time? The Solid Snake figma looks so much better now (though I still think it's quite flawed and needs customization). As far as figures you can actually have different options of display, I think the revo big boss from Peacewalker may still be the most balanced one.

Look at them gaps. You should check out the vulcanlog version. It's on smaller scale around 6", but as long as the preview image goes, it looks awesome in both sculpt & accessories.

The only Play Arts Kai figure I really like is the Advent Children Cloud. That piece is exquisite. Love MGSV:TPP so this is disappointing to see... I feel like PAK is kind of just dialing it in these days.. That being said, I'm really looking forward to the Kaiyodo mini-revol version of this figure. Great and thorough review though, thanks!

The figure is great, just slightly off colored were as the suit is a combo of Grey and Black. But the figure is all Black.

The pony tail is a swivel actually. The ball joint on the robot joint is game accurate, color too. I was also able to fix the torso ball joint by undoing it, dropping a couple drops of liquid super glue in the cavity, letting it set, and it makes it way more snug. Do you do your reviews right out box?

Anthony, if you want a Venom Snake figure, I suggest you get the camoflauge version instead of the sneaking suit version. Weirdly enough it doesn't have any of the problems you stated here, (he can hold his gun right, has more hands, and no articulation problems like in the video) and I would love to see you review it. The figure came out the same time around the Quiet figure was released and it has the same quality as the Quiet figure. I don't know what's happening with the latest batch of PAK figures but I hope they start fixing them.

I just received mine today and the worst part about this figure is definition the Torso... I have a bunch of Play Arts Kai figures and this Torso is by far the most loose. At first I thought the figure was damaged during shipping, maybe a defective figure, or even a knock off. But I guess it just appears to be poor design. This is really a shame because they did such an amazing job with Ground Zero Big Boss. What happened, PAK?

great review. thanks for your insight. i am still getting this figure because i love the design too much and big boss is one of my favorite characters, but after this one and DD (the dog) i am done with the PAK line. they keep raising the prices but lower the quality. their designs are cool and all but still not worth the money if they turn out this ugly.

The black ball joint on the wrist of the bionic arm is game accurate, as is his pulley-strap (safety clip for inside the ACC chopper) hanging from his pouch. The wires are accurate, but maybe a little longer than they should be. Cassette player is accurate, but should probably be a tiny bit more square looking. Really poor job on this figure, though. I wish they would reissue the Gray Fox and Solid Snake figures, they were top quality.

I bought a Marvel Venom Play Arts for close to that price thinking I got a stellar deal.... When in fact, I got a very convincing boot leg. Best way to tell... I believe every PAK box has a serial number pressed in the box usually on the bottom, I compared to a Darth Vader I bought before which has the SN. My Venom did not. So most likely if you bought a PAK figure for hella cheap... Its fake, regardless of how well it may look.

I'm pretty much done with this company. they keep on producing these weird and ugly joints and never seems to do any improvement. Its still a pretty bad ass sculpt though. Anthony, as always you've pulled out a great review! I gotta say, as much as I like this figure (and I do--a lot!) Play Arts really needs to step up their game when it comes to issues such as holding things correctly and the face sculpts of some of their figures. I mean there are figures you can get from NECA at a fraction of the cost that are much better. Hell you can get an 18in NECA for less and get much more figure for the buck. Again, I do like this figure and I do like Play Arts but they have been dropping the ball lately. (cough--Arkham Knight Batman--cough) haha! That said I do think this is a really cool looking figure.

$100-120 for a reused headsculpt reused accessories from Ground zeroes snake and the first phantom pain venom snake(scarf) reused parts from solid snake mgs 1 bad design while the original MGS V venom snake was ALL NEW made from scratch nothing was reused, and yet ITS CHEAPER. seriously i dont get the price increase of these figures. now the prices are on the range of solidus/cloud strife this snake and ocelot is on par with solidus/cloud?LOL

sheen aro Nope, nothing has been reused. The collar is too short to be Solid's, knees are different and the thighs are 100% different. Things look similar, but they aren't reused. The suits in the game's lore are very similar, in design.

+Hoss super late reply and no, there are reused stuffs, you can argue the solid snake part but the headsculpt is the same(at least give us the bandana) gun 1 is from (mgs v scarf PAK) gun 2 is from(Ground zeroes snake PAK) Pistol is from (since Ground Zeroes snake PAK) Knife is from( since Ground Zeroes Snake PAK) its the same pistol and knife for the 3rd time

On my snake figure he holds the guns just fine, the knife is still impossible to hold but the guns are good on mine ,you just got unlucky
