I guess the complaints about this figure are very minor. I think overall it’s a good figure pretty decent. There are mafex figures like the Symbiote Spider-Man that comes apart easily at the waist so again this figure is pretty cool.

Something to note. Spider-Man SHOULD be shorter than the normal buck (Bucky, Sunfire or Retro body if it is to be used for other hero figures) since the normal buck for a superhero should represent an above 6 foot person (being heroes and all) and Peter Parker has been 5' 10" when fully grown into adulthood for irl decades now. So this body is probably reasonable for Spider-Man as an adult and not just early Ditko teenager look.

I think Alex Ross' style Spider-Man really speaks to me. It is realistic, but heroic and fantastical at the same time. It honors the old school Romita Sr. style with the smaller eyes Todd Mcfarlane and Mark Bagley pre-ultimate definitely come up as a close second and I may say I like one more than the other depending on the day you ask me lmao

My working theory as to why the butterfly joints don't really work with these newer figures is, I've seen some people crack open some of these new figures and take them apart for customs. Most of the new figures have new shoulders that aren't just pinned in anymore. They're actually capped off on the inside, from what I recall at least. So I think what's happening is that, that cap on the inside is just getting in the way of any movement from the butterfly joints. A great example is the new renew your vows Spiderman actually. It utilizes the same torso as the retro buck, but the shoulders are different and the renew your vows figure has significantly less range. The newer shoulders with caps on the inside are probably why their butterfly joints suck so much rn Edit: just did a little more research, the pegs aren't capped off on the inside, they're just extra long for no reason.

Ultimate Spider-Man is my favorite design and overall version of all time. First appearance peter was definitely a teen. There is also a way to give the figure better hip movement by trimming some of the plastic in his leg like the homecoming mod.

I always had a soft spot for Ditko's original design, but my favourite will always be the Ultimate design by Bagley, big eyes, and a stylish back spider. It's a pleasent surprise that this was such a good release, I was a bit on the fence when I heard the body would be slightly smaller than the renew your bows sculpt, the proportions are better, and seeing how it is a younger Peter, It makes sense he'd be shorter. Definitely will be on the look out for this one.

John Romita is the GOAT of all Spider-Man artists! He’s the reason why Spider-Man looks the way he does today, although Ditko did make the black blue it was still a darker blue, Romita gave Spider-Man a brighter blue for his look and slowly started to remove his “armpit webs”. He made the eyes more modern and overall better and he gave Spider-Man that iconic look that we all know and love

I love Ultimate Spider-Man the most but if we're just talking about adult Spider-Man it's definitely McFarlane. I also love how Humberto Ramos and John Romita Jr. draw Spider-Man.

Some things that bugged me about the release: The oblique/hips shouldn't be fully red, it makes it look bulbous and weird. I painted the top of the hip bulges black and it looks much better. The shoulders on mine were limited, I literally trimmed just a tiny bit of the sharpness of the shoulders off and he has full 90 degree+ range

@@AnthonysCustoms That's a core canonical aspect of the character, it's always been the same for Peter Parker. Thats the one every film/tv has used for the last twenty years. Some of his best stories were in his teens during the Ditko era.

A character he probably has 100s of and doesn't know his only origin which he says theres 30+ of (there isnt) which has been crammed down our throats for decades...it's just a weird deflection is all. MOST of spideys best rogues were created by Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, John Romita Sr. in the 60s. Spideys villains didn't really change drastically til the 70s and 80s. I read alotve the essentials volumes as a kid.

Oof i love this figure, but mine came with the web pattern paint missing on the entire left side of his foot. I reached out to Hasbro customer service and it's been a week with no response. The qc on these windowless boxed figures are absolutely ridiculous. Anyways glad you got a good copy, thanks for another great review as always!

Spider-Man just chilling on Venom's head like their buddies or something. lol I had a feeling you were going to give this Spidey a good score. Watching your videos, I'm beginning to get an eye for particular details like anatomy. I recently received this Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man and I can say with confidence that it looks much better compared to other Spideys. The Renew Your Vows one certainty made a lot of improvements, but it was still working off an old mold that had issues. Amazing Fantasy Spider-Man, however, is an entirely new sculpt with so much going for it. Like you said, adjust the diaphragm, neck set up, leg proportions, and butterfly joints and it's golden. The size isn't even an issue to me. He looks much better next to characters like Shocker and Lizard compared to Renew Your Vows, which looked a little too big and tall. I'm overall enjoying Amazing Fantasy more, too. Yeah, I'd say this Spider-Man is the best Marvel Legends one in my opinion. Renew Your Vows is great and I can see why people like it, but personally, I like Amazing Fantasy more. If Hasbro made those fixes and threw in some toe articulation, this Spidey would be untouchable in the domestic market. ^^

I feel like this is the right Spiderman height, figure-wise. I remember placing my Retro Deadpool beside my Retro Spiderman, and I think Spidey was a little bit taller... But in the comics Deadpool is significantly taller than Spidey.

John Romita Sr has to be my fav Spidey artist. His son's art is more stylised but good too. This smaller less chiseled look makes sense. Peter Parker was a teenager when he became Spider-Man.

My favorite classic Spidey is hard to choose. Artist wise, I love Bagley, McFarlane, both Romitas and Buscemas (Sal esp!). Overall my fav is probably JRJR's early 80s Amazing run where he brought back the web wings and had a deep blue/ almost black which I love

The new hasbro butterfly joint that don't move completely is a thing hasbro did on purpose. They started connecting the shoulders to them torso area, instead of connecting directly to the butterfly. The movement is limited to a slit that's near the middle of the inside of the torso, they've done it many times, not really getting why.

They're using this body on two upcoming figures. The animated cel shaded retro and the spiderman and his amazing friends 3 pack. The amazing friends one might end up being the definitive spiderman because it has regular blue and regular spider emblem with a pretty normal head similar to this one.

I love this figure, the only thing that's keeping me away from buying it it's the price but knowing how hasbro is nowadays I wouldn't be surprised if they Re-release this figure with the Todd McFarlane design and a new headsculpt. Thanks for the review!

I can understand why this particular character would benefit from a neck hinge, but they should've combined it with a lower neck ball like Classified's Snake Eyes. Head tilting should (and practically is, based on other figures on the market) be a standard in 2022. Shame too because the costume's webbing could've even organically hidden the joint.

So I was curious as to what was hindering the butterfly joint so I popped mine apart. The peg for the shoulder of the figure goes through the butterfly joint and into a slot in the chest. The peg has a little flat rim on the end that keeps it in the slot but it's pretty easy to pop out. For kicks I clipped the end of mine so they don't go into that slot. The butterfly joint can now pull away from the chest easier but it does increase the range of the arms by quite a bit. So... it's an internal "mechanism" that's limiting the motion. (This is similar to the Vulcan body as well.)

I liked this guy way more than I expected to. His articulation isn't quite as good as RYV but I agree that the proportions and sculpt are the best Marvel Legends has offered for Spider-Man. I just can't get past just how huge and jacked RYV Spidey is, dudes a monster! This mold fits my mental image of the character the best, even if I'd prefer classic red and blue colors

Man I starting to think the same way on figures as you, when I looked to this figure I knew it will be a great figure, now I think it , even more when I watched your edit on the figure it's the first time I saw this minimal tweaks, i just orderedvit yesterday can't wait to have it, half it doesn't have the drop waist thigy. Also did you already do the Black Cat retro card figura review, if not man it's horrible I was hoping to get a good figure but it's the worst one I bought lately and it's a shame because I like the look of black catjs hand are horrible, the head it's bad place it looks likes it's hunched and it cover the collar. They should have added toe articulation and gave us plugs for the web arm prices or just not added them and this would have been perfect. I am still debating on this Spider-Man or Renew your Vows Spider-Man but I am leaning towards this one cause I believe I can fill the holes in the arms with moldable black putty and not have to worry much about paint matching

I just love something about the john romita sr. look for spidey. He doesn’t get super crazy with web swinging poses but i like the proportions and eyes on his best. Never liked the mcfarlane design (or any others) where the eyes take up most of his face.

All you gotta do is heat them up and be careful when pulling them off the peg. Hair dryer or hot water both work tho hot water is the safer one to do.

Also don’t heat them up too much. Don’t wanna melt it either. Be very careful when doing it.

Hair dryer is fine. Just try to use it as little as necessary. You really don't need a video about doing it. Super simple. Even your kitchen faucet probably warms up enough as for the water option. I promise you can swap them on your own. Just don't use anything close to boiling water

The reds are slightly different and the webs on Amazing Fantasy aren't fully black like on Renew Your Vows. They're more like a very dark grey.
