I feel like Mcfarlane should scrap the stands & the card holders & give every figure more hands.

He’s a super weird guy when I comes to this line. He wants it to be cheap to appeal and make sure everyone can collect. But that cheapness bites him. This is the only toy line where there are literally hundreds of figures they’ve made that could be super out of the park perfect figures but they just aren’t. They did another nightwing and it’s an absolutely amazing looking figure. However, zero hands, zero head sculpts, and the big one which I think is just actually unacceptable no eskrima sticks. And closed fist too so he can’t hold sticks if you’ve had a previous figure that came with them. It’s things that are so simple in concept but gets held back. I’ve been screaming for years to get some cloth good capes on a lot of stuff too and honestly gave up on that wish due to how many never get good treatment. Oh and 7 inch line. No more to be said on that really. Any other collection I have doesn’t look right with them.

Collector's Edition should look like She-Spawn, that figure was extremely good and packed with some good accessories. Same with the Gamestop Exclusive Gunslinger Spawn that came with a horse and a lots of guns.

I was hyped for the collectors line. I thought they were gonna paint them all nice, new moulds, new articulation set up, extra hands maybe heads. Mcfarlane have a lot of cool sculpt that I thought they were gonna bring to life. Veeery disapointing. This is a solid figure. It would look good next to the ghost maker they made.

The only collection thing they're doing lately that's gonna be dope is the Batmen box set. Other than that the Collector's edition and Gold Label stuff really isn't interesting nor worth it

I agree the 30 dollar price is hard to consider picking up this new line they are trying to do. Consider that they also charge 30 bucks for those big boxed editions like that Superman unchained patina edition. Love the videos as always 👍

Absolutely agree on the pricing, what the hell is going on there? The Jokerized figures come with the same display stand (and 4 playing cards!) for about £5 more than usual instead of £10 for the 'Collectors Edition'.

Correct me if I am wrong but besides this figure, the ONLY mcfarlane DC figure that has matched the card artwork perfectly was the red azrael figure from wave 2 if I am not mistaken

Wicked cool character design and figure; however, $30 is bleeding mad! Consider what you are getting for your $30: lack of alternate hands, heads and accessories, little paint or wash, poorly posable, limited articulation, and perhaps the most egregious of the lot, the plastic card holder stand. $30 goes a long way in life. That being said, I am not sure if this McFarlane figure is worth $30. For a standard release of $20-$25, sure. But for $30? Hmm… I cannot say. Nevertheless, this review, like all the other literal 1,000+ on your channel, was excellent! Arrivederci, Giovanni Marino, M.D.🇬🇧

Todd is stubborn when it comes to articulation. Like he just refuses to give us good articulation because he wants to "limit how much it breaks the sculpt"

why does Mcfarlane hate torso articulation? hes been doing this for years and ive been trying to increase the movement manually lmao but some goes well others dont. like the kickstarter spawn figure. I was extremely hyped for it when he said the the torso was gonna be rubber but then poof hard as stone. removable cape? Nah

Hey there Anthony, you probably don’t have time to respond to KZbin comments but I’m very curious about some of the nomenclature you use. What does wash and dry brushing mean, and how are they different? Would love to get an idea so I can more accurately picture this when I watch your reviews

So both are methods of painting typically used on models (and action figures as well.) A dry brush is when you take a color of paint (typically lighter than the color on the figure), apply it to your paintbrush, and then you wipe it almost "dry" before painting. That way when you use the brush, only minimal amounts of paint will apply to the higher, or "raised", areas of the plastic. A wash is basically the exact opposite. It's paint that has typically been watered down, or you can buy washes on their own. Because it's so wet, the intent of a wash is that it fills all the little cracks and crevices with paint, thus giving them detail and shading. Tl:Dr Drybrushing is for highlights, washes are for lowlights (basically) Hope this helps! 😊

Special editions - Obviously the figure itself being enhanced beyond a normal one is good. So far the first three figures are standard. But I wouldn't dismiss packaging too quickly because I have experienced some great boxes that I feel do add significant value. They have features that make you want to use it and show it off. Mcfarlane's boxes don't do that. They are way too big and highlight how much wasted space there is. Especially when it draws attention to a card stand you may not care about. It's an annoying release because this got a whole new mold.........Superman they couldn't be bothered. And that this super new character is part of the first wave of this line.

McF confuses me. "Gold Label" "Collector's Edition" and isn't there another edition or version floating around out there, too? This isn't hard to do, Todd. Regular versions are regular. 'Gold' or 'limited' editions should be some manner of special repaint, or an exclusive to a retailer. Collector's editions should be a regular version with additional accessories -- usually this is a new weapon or prop, and an additional headsculpt. Cards and card stands do NOT count.

It's a ripoff. $10 bucks more (not just at BBTS) for a card stand. At least Abyss is a new sculpt, but superman and is all reuse except for the head. While Green Lantern is new, reuse of that mold is already out too. No extra to accessories, not extra paint. Garbage.

A great example of a Special Edition that’s actually special is the Profit Director Destro, it’s got the same basic body as the regular Classified series Destro but it has a gold, red leather and leopard print aesthetic with fun accessories like burning money and shades in addition to the standard accessories (briefcase and gun). The best part was it around the same price as the original release.

This one's a hard pass for me. first, I'm not familiar with the character. second, although I do like the over all design of the figure and it's weapon, I hate those XX eyes. And third, I'm sorry but $30 dollars is a bit too much. There's nothing here to justify that price point. I mean, by comparison, an average new Diamond Selects Marvel figure is only $27.99, and you usually get a fair amount extra stuff packed in with them too. I don't want a stand for the trading card, either.🤷‍♂

Price shouldn't become a standard since this is supposed to be a special edition figure/package. The most redeeming quality of McFarlane's figures is that their prices haven't changed at all unlike Hasbro. Normal figures are still $20, megafigs are like $40 and then they have some weird stuff like this figure and these come with their own price range. Hasbro's prices are all over the place, they just charge whatever they want, lol.

This “Collector’s Edition” line really pissed me off. Abyss is the only new figure, and 1st Appearance Superman, and Alan Scott Green Lantern are just lazy repaints with new head sculpts. Since they’re repaints, they have sculpted details which are wildly inaccurate and honestly, I’ve seen regular releases with more accessories. For the price point we should have gotten more paint, or new sculpts, or WAY more accessories, or honestly? All of the above. Alan Scott’s power ring is on the wrong hand for Christ’s sake. It’s really starting to bug me that so many companies keep trying to nickel and dime us. I’m concerned that this was a test for McFarlane to see how well figures might sell at a higher price point, and now that they’re doing the stupid NFT stuff, I’m even more concerned. I believe they’re gonna offer those with some of the figures, and if they use that as justification for a price raise, that’ll really piss me off
