I have defiantly been waiting for your critique of this figure because I knew it would be very thorough! What is more, I think this figure is somewhat structurally awkward as well. I like the fact they're starting to branch out more, though I think the abundance of Batman might be two-fold between DC/Warner Bros. and McFarlane. Not a total excuse, but that;s my theory as DC has almost always relied on the Dark Knight as their marquee hero. In terms of the figures, if you take them as they are, it's whatever, but if you use them as a blank canvas and fix some of the issues they have in articulation and paint, makes them leaps and bounds better. Not everyone's cup of tea but my repainted Lobo looks like it should cost three times as much.
@ReeceHoward062 жыл бұрын
Literally your last point. I find that customizing McFarlane DC figures are some of the easiest and rewarding figures to customize. Out of box, they are decent. Put a little love in them amd the are perfect to me. I look at these figures like a cross between a Gundam Model kit and an action figure, and that usually satisfies the hobbyist and collector in me.

Mcfarlane is really hit or miss for me. Sick of the dark knights metal stuff he's into. But then again there's few characters I would even need to be content with my collection. The side eye is annoying and limits poses for photography and the lack of female heroes/villains is annoying

For one, I would love for my super hero figures to be shaped like super heroes. Legends does it too, but these companies have done it so much that I've just kind of gotten accustomed to my figures being un-super shaped. It's really sad actually but I forget how bad the proportions actually are on many of these. I'm not even talking about political correctness and females, but why is it so hard for these companies to match the source material? I've been collecting on and off for 20 years, but my collection still doesn't have a Batman because this is the kind of stuff we're dealing with. Why is it so hard to make a decent Batman that isn't $100?

It feels like it all goes back the 90’s Star Wars POTF line having insane He-Man like proportions which lead to them fixing this into realistic ones during the 00’s 3.5” lines but this mentality carried over into Hasbro’s Marvel Legends leading to their most used bucks having cosplayer physiques. It’s harder to understand why McFarlane is copying this, this Batman in particular has this shapely sculpted leather material which shows McFarlane‘s strengths but then they have this marshmallow soft sculpting of the body.

The problem with McFarlane's torso articulation is because the whole ball peg is buried deep and enclosed in the socket, that's why it is impeded. The socket should have a 25 degree opening for the ball peg to move around it. It's a simple engineering problem, they can't seem to figure.

I'm not really into the modern designs of DC characters, I love the 80s style, Jose Garcia Lopez type look and DCUC (for all its faults) covered that so perfectly that I really didn't see the point going much deeper on McFarnale's line even if they did have superior sculpts and articulation. The only exception is the movie stuff - I have all their Justice League figures, The Batman and WW84.
