I think they should have added two purchasing options. They have recently done that with their upcoming Shao Kahn figure. You can buy Shao with the throne, or you can buy him for cheaper without the throne. They could have made Liu Kang with the dragon and a far cheaper option with just the figure alone.

Agree. That is the reason I'm not going to buy it. At least Shao comes with a throne which makes more sense and after all, you have a choice. Not like with Liu and his dragon.

Love the Dragon. It's what absolutely sold me on the figure. It's so iconic and will make for a great backdrop and display. I think you're right about it being overpriced. It's at minimum $30 more than it deserves to be. Couldn't pass this one up though. Preordered the Shao Khan with throne as well. I just love big display pieces. Such shelf presence.

It's not exactly the same thing. The Dragonball dragon is 100% an East Asian style design dating back more than 4000 years, very snake like with tiny legs short arms. The MK dragon is a mixture of western and East Asian style influence which makes it uniquely Mortal Kombat.

I kind wish the dragon could have stretched out so that you could pose him flying for display purposes. I can't wait for the translucent orange variant set that's coming out, that's a BBTS Exclusive. My favorite human character is Kotal Kahn ☀️🔆

i’ve been planning on buying the dragon ever since i saw it on display however long ago when they first showed it. it’s sick, and i think pairing it with liu is a good idea. BUT they should give people the option to buy them separate if they want.

I'm glad that Liu Kang came with the dragon for two reasons: 1) If we're talking Fatality accessories, the dragon is the ultimate additional piece. It's Liu's most iconic fatality, and the fact that he comes with no other fatality parts (blood splatters, body parts etc), this more than makes up for the lack of those accessories. The dragon is just...wow. It's fricking cool! 2) I'd be pissed if they released a single, figure version only and then did a special edition version that included the dragon. The fact that they did a special edition figure with a fiery dragon and an additional flame effect just means I can buy the regular release that does come with the dragon. Overall, I'm happy that the regular version has the dragon. The dragon gets a big thumbs up from me.

Liu Kang was the first figure from this line that I really wanted that I didn't preorder pretty much as soon as it went up. I agree that the proportioning on this figure is pretty much the best out of all the MK figures (and most of Storm's figures in general) which makes it all the more annoying. I feel like either myself or Storm will likely give up on this line before they manage to produce every character I would like, so I won't lose sleep over every single character I can't get, but not having Liu Kang really sucks - but paying an extra $100 + shipping + import fees for a giant dragon I don't want sucks even more, I guess. Collector figures are luxury items, I get that... but still, buying these things should be fun and exciting, and trying to figure out if I can justify buying this figure has been anything but. At least MK9 Shao Kahn being offered without the throne could be a positive sign of things to come. Liu Kang is the most egregious example by far, but there have honestly been plenty of figures they've put out where I would very happily skip out on a bunch of accessories if it could save me $30. As for the QOTD, I don't have a singular favourite but I'm definitely eagerly waiting for Cage, Jax and Sonya. Seems insane we haven't gotten any of them, but we've got Sheeva, Nightwolf and even a second version of Shao Kahn on the way already! (Granted, I'm quite excited for Sheeva lol)

$85 is a steal. Have you seen what Fin Fang Foom is going for on eBay? Seriously though, I was thinking I might pick up Liu Kang even though I’m not a Mortal Kombat or Storm Collectibles guy, but not with the dragon and the $180 price tag. I don’t know what these toy companies are thinking any more. Do they think we go on toy hunts when we feel like taking our Ferrari Testatorssas for a spin?

I like the dragon. I think it’s a perfect backdrop for the MK shelf. And Liu Kang despite being the “main Character” is probably the least toyetic. So I see why they did it. But also storm does way more obscure liscenses then MK so maybe that isn’t valid.

I like that they decided that a dragon accessory was worthy of being made. I would never buy it alone. It's also what's preventing me from buying the figure at all. It wpuld have been a nifty idea of storm decided to make a fatality accessory pack and included the dragon as a huge selling point and maybe took some more time to make it more posable. It wad supposed to at least lean down to bite the opponent.

I guess they had to get the Mortal Kombat Dragon out somehow. They should have released the dragon separately with better articulation at the neck so that it can at least bend down to fully do the fatality and with a 1/12 scale Mortal Kombat cabinet. I have a feeling that this will have a deep discount sometime during the holiday season.

I think they should have released Lui Kang on his own let it sell a bit then release the dragon as its own figure. That way it could have had slightly better articulation and maybe swappable hands / accessories. Instead of confiding him as a pricy accessory and limiting what it can do.

He is kinda like same situation with Axe Battler. Both come with the Dragon. But if you look at current Storm releases, their prices are almost hitting the $100 for a single figure. So I think $175 not bad for this set.

Always thought liu Kang was the ultimate badass because I grew up with the 90s live action movies, then when I played the games and read some of the bios it was pretty obvious he was just extremely skilled, so much so that shinnok who was basically Satan got his ass whooped in 4 and he was even training a cool new successor kai, but deadly alliance threw all that shit out the window because he wasn't popular enough lol I'm guessing because a lot of ignorant people who never watched Kung Fu movies didn't like the high pitched Bruce Lee screeches idk

Kung Lao is pretty cool, but my favorite is Cyrax before he became a cybernetic robot for the Lin-Quei I think what I would have liked (but this is like my opinion and I'm more biased of UMK3) that instead of the dragon from MK2 I would love some more effects and his fatality when he drops an arcade cabinet as a Big Accessory so that it'll be with the other MK3 Storm Collectibles

Lui Kang the hero of Mortal Kombat.......they locked it behind this silly Dragon. Of all the characters, Lui Kang. My fear is they will do a solo Liu in alternate colors. We haven't seen the dragon since MK3? As someone said. Shao Kahn has two versions. Tack on that throne directly interacts with the big guy.......or anyone. The Dragon doesn't enhance Liu Kang. Clearly this is the sell the dragon.....at which point just make an optional two pack

They have options for shao kahn with and without a granny chair, why are we being forced to get a dragon!!! A lot of people will end up trying to buy this second hand to avoid purchasing the dragon. The arms joints are too much shown. You can not do a good posing with diorama like the ninjas. The pants articulations color mismatches too if you turn it a bit. I dunno, i am not expecting a hot toy,but still i duno. 8/10 for its price no. Its too much.
