I have watched a lot of L AI videos and never seen anyone use the curves tool to add a yellow tone to the white of the sun. Will definitely use that tip. thanks
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Awesome, thank you! Yeah, I actually really like colour grading with curves. It takes a bit more knowledge than just using slider but it really gives you great control. Changing the white value to a colour is just one of them. You can do the same with pure blacks too etc. etc.

Color Harmony is the most useful. You don't need anything else.
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
I love the color harmony tool too, but I do think it's a good idea to know what other tool options you have at your disposal. For example, sometimes just a slight shift in colour balance is all an image needs.

Hi just wondering which version is better luminar 4 or ai many thanks peter
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hi Peter. It's not so much a case of which is better, but which is better suited to your needs. If you are into photo editing based on single shots then AI is a better choice. It's faster, it's the newer product, and has fantastic local masking features. If you want to get into compositing of layers i.e. combining different photos into one then Luminar 4 is better because it allows you to layer. Having said that there is a workaround in AI where you can import other photos as texture layers. My personal preference is now AI. Hope that helps Peter. Oh btw, whichever option you go for you can get a discount with ATSKY10 through the link in the description. 😀

I'm not sure of a good alternative to be honest as I can only really recommend what I'm using. Dig around online though and I'm sure there'll be a less expensive option out there that still does a good job.

Thank you for another great video (and love your potted ferns!). My question is about the curves tool - are the colour channels JUST used for changing the colour (like you demonstrated with the blue channel) as opposed to affecting contrast when you have that colour channel selected... or said another way, is contrast ONLY something you work on in curves, with the white button? Thank you!
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Oh, glad you like my fern. I like having a bit of green in the office :) To answer your question. Yes, stick to using the white button to control contrast. Obviously there are more convenient tools to work with contrast but the curves option does give you a lot of control.
@paulinanelega3 жыл бұрын
@@AnthonyTurnham Thank you, AT. I do like controlling contrast with the curves option, in addition to the other tools that affect it; was just never sure how to 'properly' use the coloured buttons in the curves! cheers, Paulina

Hi Anthony, I have Luminar 4 and I haven't got luminar AI yet as I couldn't afford both at once. However, these videos are still immensely helpful in terms of better understanding and manipulating the tools in Luminar 4. My question to you is, would you consider there is a significant difference in the creative possibilities and capabilities between the two? Would you consider only having Luminar 4 severly limiting? Sorry for the questions I'm just trying to see if I can justify paying for luminar AI to myself (and my girlfriend) when I can mimic some of the same things you do in Luminar AI to some extent and with a varying degree of success in Luminar 4 (obviously never as good as you do it). Keep up the good work !
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Good question Jorge. If you're having success with Luminar 4 then keep pressing on with that. Take the money and treat your girlfriend to a meal! 😜 Personally I do prefer Luminar AI. I find it faster and I also prefer working with local masks. However if you're going well with L4, perhaps just stick with that for now.

Hi Anthony Was wondering how come your luminar is so fast. The changes you make happen in real-time while on my system it can take up to 10 seconds. I know you're going to naturally say maybe my PC is hindering speed but these are my specs: Its a fast system. I have an AMD Ryzen Threadripper 3.7 Ghz 12 core processor / 24 threads Geforce RTX 2070 8 GB GDDR6 32 GB DDR4 of RAM Samsung SSD 970 EVO hard drives
@AnthonyTurnham3 жыл бұрын
Hmmm... interesting. Your machine sounds like it's more than capable. I'm still running the older Ryzen 7 2600 and it's running Luminar, 2 monitors, and screen capture software too. Also I sometimes have Lightroom and Photoshop open too if I've forgotten to close them before I start a recording. So it seems odd that your machine would be running slower.... have you contacted the technical support at Skylum? Maybe there's a configuration they need to optimize in the program for your particular setup that they've overlooked... Sorry I can't be more help. I hope you get a speed boost soon! Oh, one thing I have noticed though is that the more tools I layer into an edit the slower the changes occur as those tools add up and compound onto each other... i.e. simple edits are super speedy, complicated edits start to get slower...

Can Luminar AI create Movie Posters? IE: insert a number of images into a Poster?

Hi Brent. Yes. You can layer elements in using the texture tool and the blending modes, masking, and opacity available within that tool.
