I'm from Brazil and been a metal head since 1985. I remember the Brazilian metal bands all looked evil, dressed in black and talked about the devil. That's what Sepultura were about in Bestial Devastation and Morbid Visions. Then in 1986 they shocked us with Schizophrenia. But not only for the music they started making, but also because the way they were dressing: they started wearing beach shorts and colored t-shirts, backwards baseball caps, looked goofy and smiled a lot on pictures. We didn't understand why, for there were no Anthrax albums released in Brazil yet. We understood it a bit later, when Anthrax got more popular and started appearing on metal magazines. They were a huge influence on Sepultura's attitude at that point.

I just bought it digitally (I know, I know...) as, to my shame, I realised I didn't actually own a copy and the production sounds kind of muddy to me. Only criticism as the songs are pretty much flawless. What I love about it is the cover art: very minimal, un-metal like (for the time) and open to interpretation. I mean, remove all the wording and most people would have no clue as to what type of music we're dealing with (unlike the first two albums!). Very mature decision for the band. Of course, it's since gone on to be an iconic image and the single one most associated with Anthrax (bit like Metallica's MOP cover).

I was totally into New Wave in the early 80s. I was born in 1970, so the 80s were my teenage years. By age 15 I started getting into heavier music. Mtv was huge in the 80s, and was my primary source for discovering new music. The first heavy metal song I really got into was “Run To The Hills” by Iron Maiden. I loved it from the first time I saw the video. That got me into watching Headbangers Ball. In 1986 Anthrax hosted Headbangers Ball, and from the second I heard them I was hooked on thrash metal and, especially, Anthrax. They were my favorite band through the 80s. Now, 35 years later, I still love Anthrax and thrash. It’s hard to believe it’s been that long.

Great stuff! Only small complaint is about Corey Taylor claiming Metallica and Slayer in 85-86 were wearing expensive "costumes" on stage. Metallica in that era made a name for themselves largely for just wearing jeans and tee shirts. Slayer were much the same back then. Most you'd see was a leather jacket here and there (James and Kerry). Corey Taylor s a dork.

Got the vinyl of Spreading in 1986 in Rome at this awesome store called Disfunzioni Musicali, and it's still part of my collection. I just love these guys, they're genuine. They introduced the fun element in thrash metal as well as elements of urban culture that at the the time made me relate to these guys like no other metal band. Saw them live for the first time in Tokyo in 2019. When they came up on stage I cried joyful tears, and felt just like I was 17-year old again. I've rediscovered Anthrax through this video series. Was a HUGE fan in high school, Spreading and Among era. I actually got to hang with them on their Among the Living tour. It was before the show, David Wayne (Metal Church, RIP) asked my friends and I if we were security. Umm...lol, no. He was cool though and said we probably shouldn't be backstage. Then, like Slayer, I think I started to take myself to seriously. Rock on Scott and company. On a side note, Scott called my an asshole on Twitter a few years back. My claim to fame lol. I deserved it.

I'm the Man E.P. introduced me to Anthrax when I was 12. They were heavy, different, wacky and funny, i was hooked! It got me into metal, and playing guitar, Skeletons In the Closet was first guitar riff i learned besides Wipeout! Among the Living. Probably my favorite Metal Album of all Time. Rawk on good people!

These Anthrax 40 episodes are the best thing on YT right now! Thank you Anthrax! 08:09 I feel the same way about the Japanese female bands like Band-Maid, Lovebites, Nemophila, Mary's Blood... They're good on record but I can only take so much, but I could watch them play live all day long! I'm blown away by the musicianship and the force of the music. Like Gene said, live, it's an assault.

Awesome album, then among right after. Freaking boom! The raw energy of the band is always what got me. Constant motion on stage and seemed like normal down to earth guys that were just having the time of their lives.

Back in high school I was a devoted Metallica head. One of my buddies introduced me to Anthrax one day and insisted I give it a try. 30-something years later I still love their music. Thanks, Brandon! I owe you one, buddy.

I had the cassette in my Walkman like every day when I had ny first real job at 12 in 1988 . Was doing janitorial work in a school and I brought this tape with me like every time. Favorite tune would probably be A.I.R
