It's a truck version of the popular scorpio, it was launched as getaway in India around 2008-9. Indians in general were new to this segment, Sales were poor so mahindra had to stop sales by 2017. I still have a 2012 model with me, done 230000kms yet engine and transmission as healthy as ever. These vehicles have proven their reliability and scorpio (suv) is the most popular option where I live in India. If it can survive in my region for over 10 years without any hiccups it definitely can survive anywhere in the world.

Thanks for that insight, we've put our name down for a test-drive of the Scorpio "Adventure" model here in southern Africa. The Pik-Up / truck is becoming quite popular here, they've just launched three more (cosmetic) models: Dusk, Dawn and Storm.

I've owned this recently.... & I had to say the fuel economy is astonishing ... Quite economical then owning a toyota pickup .... Some people think it's ugly.... But i think it looks Manly mascular 💪🏻... More then happy customer 👍🏻

Hi there , we own a 2014 mhawk model , and still running strong... Max torque at 1.6k rpm , extremely reliable engine , only problem is after a while the 4wd and low range don't always engage properly ... But even in rwd it is still very capable , unless you take it to the hardest offroad courses , but we have been dragging 1 ton logs without a hiccup and god knows how we still use the same clutch... Comes with cruise control too , but loud wind noise on the highway though ... But yes , definitely worth it , basically an affordable land cruiser Im from south africa which is almost the same environment as Australia , so if it does great here it would probably do great there as well

What an excellent review. These are also becoming more popular in Australia as well. They are the type of vehicle that both Aust & South Africa will appreciate. Might be boxy, but its rugged, reliable, well built & reasonably practical . Top marks to Mahindra . Now starting to build some very , very good vehicles.

Agree. And remeber a Landcruiser 70 is also very boxy and the ride is just as worse or as good. And its reliable. And the power seems to be enough, its not slower than a 70 series landcruiser. Check the V8’s figures, very slow, also around the 15 sec.

Thanks for this amazing upload. This is by far the most decent review involving the Karoo. I have watched it more than once for its detailed to the finest criteria ever so needed to us as the consumer. I would surely procure a Karoo if I have half of a opportunity. I must concur, it beautiful of ugliness. This is in my opinion the best brand to fit the average South African. Thanks guys:)

My friend, Scorpio in India and karoo for you folks is built to suit Indian conditions and it's been informed the top sellers for last 2 decades here in India and we are very very difficult market. This vehicle will last you your life if maintained properly. Here bolero is the first choice for urban India which is a class lower to karoo. You cannot go wrong with Mahindra. The only issue is comparison with Toyota. Here in India you won't belive Hilux has been launched last month for first time and is thrice the cost. It's gonna be a failure for sure. Now you can understand the market we have india where the best of the products will fail and this Mahindra been the choice since last 2 decades. I am sure Mahindra will replace Toyota's in the later or will definitely be a Challenger

I'm always driving on high speed on my 3 mahindras bakkies.no leak no what.s11 Karoo,s6 nd scorpion 2016.all are 2.2mhawk.bt the Scorpio is very fast nd saving very much on fuel.NAHINDRA is really a god of all cars.i don't care even if parts seems expensive,as long as I get them.parts are original.replace once and drive longer.what's the reason of buying cheaper and drive less.i buy expensive and drive longer.TIME IS MONEY

The rear seat back is held to the rear bulkhead by a couple of bolts. You can change them out for a steel pin which you can easily pull out when you want to flip the rear forwards and make use of the hidden space (e.g for hiding firearms) 😋

Very patchy dealerships in Australia at the moment, a few scattered down the East coast, one on the West coast, for me it is a 700 kM drive to even had a look at one. Which is a pity as I think they really offer something the party tarts don't, value for money.

Possible problems you will get after 50k km Vaccum modulator not working Secondary fuel level going bad. Rust under doors(drainage holes) , mainly cause the water from windows. Engine's are pretty durable. Just service it every 10k.

I can't say that's not true but you're lying.i have Mahindra pikup s6 single cab 2018, Scorpio pikup 2016 single cab and s11 Karoo double cab automatic 2020,over those kilometres.no rust,no engine oil leaks,no brake down.mahindra are hidras,beats. If you have a good hand on cars, Mahindra can reach 1300000 without major breakdowns.

since in India we have switched to BS6 emission from past two year so they are coming up with new gen... 5 star safety crash test new engine & host of new features hope they don't increase price by large amount.. cant wait to take one of them at home

Is that an auto? Here in NZ it is only 6 speed manual. I am looking at getting the S10 2022 model. My farther-in-law, in RSA, has a much older version 2.5 turbo diesel with over 300 000km and still going strong. Love them.

If you have good dealer back up and parts available then there a great little truck. I owned the turbo diesel standard tranny in Costa Rica for 2 years and drove it aggressively in the mountains. Good power, nice ride, wide stance, are the pros. Can't really haul heavy loads and I didn't like the brakes ,plus hard to get any parts. Biggest problem was the dealership.

So mahindra in India confirms to BS6 norms so it's pretty much Euro 6 here for past 2 years. May be south afica doesn't enforce a stricter emmision standard? Even before than since 2015 it's been Euro 4 .Also mostly our cars get fabric upholstery you guys seem to get leather. Also the non Bucky version scorpio gets jump seats in India for cost cutting you guys get forward facing . But in my openion I prefer the jump seats as you can comfortably sleep in the back.

From the side of engine as an Indian , I can say it's one of the reliable engine 1-2 lakh km is nothing for it . 😉 Thier are many people in India who have driven m-Hawk above 4 lakh km.

JK tyre and Ceat are the best brands of Tyre in India, affordable and Rugged. My sedan has Ceat, I replaced ine of the rear wheel last month with a JK, and it just works honey. You'll love it too

It was only used by government personel and policemen, public didn't actually like the idea of a pickup truck that can be used for office commutes, having a loading bed in the rear meant you're a commercial truck driver like it hurts the reputation of a corporate employee, so many didn't buy the scorpio getaway aka the Mahindra karoo in 🇮🇳, but now times are changing, people going crazy over Isuzu and hiluxes
