I love the Doxology!! When I sung in the choir in the Baptist Church, we too, always closed the service with the Doxology before the benediction. Yes we must keep this alive. Thank you for sharing. I do virtual church now and Praise God for still being able to have it at the end of our service. It is sung exactly the way we use to sing it!😍

I have so much love for the Doxology!! When I served as Minister of Music in the AME & CME Church, we always closed the service with the Doxology before the benediction. We must keep this alive.

At an AME Zion church I used to go to we always sung the doxology after offering and sung the threefold amen after the benediction.

I grew up in a COVENANT church, but with Baptist roots. We sang this every Sunday, with full choirs and congregation. I’ve since moved and now attend a non-denominational church, and thus haven’t heard this version in AGES! Some churches do an early European hymn version, but it lacks the power and praise of the AME version. Thanks so much for posting this! Oregon so loved the world that he gave his only begotten son, whosoever should believe in him will not perish, but have everlasting life! John 3:16

It was most likely the end of service, so they were probably preparing to pray the benediction.
