The mood disorder elaborated under psychosis can also be correlated as a reaction due to anxiety as in neurosis and as well as the product of neurosis/ anxiety, probably may be due to variation in the serotonin releases as a neurotransmitter ,and hence making the patient more anxious.So my concern as a patient is that ,isn't it possible that a patient has neurosis and it affects his or her mood directly or indirectly and as such the patient is insightful as well about it's illness but unable to relate his or her sadness , variations in mood especially during the morning time....how can we correlate it clinically. Kindly tell me in such cases where the cause of fear is known to the patient, and yet his mind remains in that neverending loop of disturbing thought, how to decide on regulation in serotonin levels... whether to go for SSRI's or otherwise...I'm a patient, and impatiently waiting for an answer.

neuroleptic means agents that reduce nerve tension by reducing nerve functions, that is what we need in psychotic patients. That's why neuroleptics are called as antipsychotic agents.
