wow, just amazing transformation. i have really enjoyed watching this. i hope you have handwritten in a message and the date of rebinding for the person who pulls this off a shelf in another 100 years. thank you for the videos
@FourKeysBookArtsКүн бұрын
Adding notes to a rebound book is actually recommended in the manual I just read, so I intend to do that for this one. edit - I'm pinning this comment thread to the top, as the question seems to be coming up a lot. Perhaps I'll make an addendum video on the subject.
@MattHaugh22 сағат бұрын
Came here to ask the same question. Imagine the thrill of finding that note in 100 years, and feeling even more connected to the total story of the artifact. Thanks for the great content!
@jclark275219 сағат бұрын
I agree! I think people who do restorations generally do not document themselves enough on their work! Humility, consideration, and no small dose of hesitation may stay their hand after working to remove superfluous markings, but I firmly believe that adding specific notes only adds to the intrigue and value of the end result! I encourage people to write a note within a book Any Time it is gifted, or otherwise changes hands. Thus the unique story continues, and a richer experience is forged.

Could you do the gold on the leather before you put it on the spine? Sort of like a bigger version of the label?

Hello Dennis, thank you very much for this series and all your videos. They are incredibly healing. You have restored and rebuilt something which was on the brink of non-existence. I wonder, if the book is conscious (I'm not saying it isn't), how wonderful it must feel. How incredibly lucky to cross paths with you and your intent. I think, when we review our lives, at the very end, without pretense and posturing, it will be acts such as these that will reveal our life worth. How much we created, how much beauty we brought to the world that desperately needs it. What was our intent. How much we healed - objects, people, nature. I feel blessed by being able to see your work of passion, your peace and kindness. Thank you and have a beautiful holiday season. You and your loved ones.

Amazing work as always. Interesting new methods for binding a book. I like the 3/4 leather covering look with the book cloth to finish it. The labeling is an interesting way of approach, not sure how I feel about it, it doesn't look bad, but it also doesn't look like it belongs to the book, should be interesting to see how it will look in the future after it weathers.
