Hi Cathy---what a wonderful day at the bottle show. So many gorgeous bottles. That little milk perfume bottle was quite the find. Beautiful Lourdes Holy Water bottle and the table of old amethyst bottles was a feast for the eyes. Thank you for including Carl's narrative of the bottles on his table, that was an added treat! Hope the weekend is treating you well!

Hi Rita! (I shouldn't still be up, but I am). Glad you enjoyed the bottle show! I had a hunch about that tiny perfume bottle, but I didn't know how good it was until I researched it: 1935 w bakelite cap! It was good of Carl to do that narrative, unasked, really. We've known Carl for many years. He knows his bottles, and he's honest. A good guy. Those were some of the best bottles at the show, so we saved the best for last! (I hope everyone watches to the end). We are snowed in this weekend, but we have all we need. Spring is around the corner! 🐦 Thanks for watching and commenting! -Cathy👋😃😴

I had glimpsed the wildlife video of your backyard this past week while at work and need to finish viewing it.. Have a cozy Sunday. I am a night owl and love the stillness of the hours from midnight to 3am. Hope you get some cat naps in during the day :)

Oh thanks Cathy and Drew for allowing us to come along to the bottle show. The displays were lovely. And your purchases were awesome. Very hard to choose a favorite, but I'm going with the little perfume milk glass from Katie...stunning!

Hi Kathi! Glad you enjoyed the show. I was very good that day.. didn't spend too much, or buy anything to large Lol 😄 no place to put large things anymore! But watching the video, later, I said "I probably should have bought that" several times. Oh well. I am glad I got that tiny perfume. I didn't know how good it was, until I got home and researched it. And the tiny purple bottle at the end!💜

I was good that day, 💲wise. But these bottle swap meets are awesome! Drew may have bought more, had he not been stuck minding our tables, while I shot the video! 🙄 SNOW is a four letter word!❄️ But we were very lucky to have a mild, uneventful Dec, Jan, and Feb! Hopefully this won't last. I was happy to see red-winged blackbirds arrive in our backyard today (passing through) so spring is on the way! -Cathy😁💖

Hi Eileen, Glad you also appreciated that little purple beauty at the end.. ca 1860-1870. It's color/petina is really special! It has character. Maybe it's the artist in me, but I love it!😁💜

I love it when y'all do these videos. I must admit the soap stone ink is my favorite find.
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
Drew did well, getting that soapstone ink! Most people at bottle shows are looking for "glass" so sometimes you can get something a little different at a great price. That may have been the oldest item there that day! Glad you enjoyed the show. -Cathy (& Drew)👋😃😴

So much beautiful old glass, Cathy! Now that I have drooled over everything...🤣 The bottle Drew bought with the whittling and nail head is gorgeous. The tiny milk glass perfume is nice! But my favorite is the little purple bottle, the iridescence is just awesome. I'm not allowed to go to a bottle show, by my hubby!🤣❤️
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
Haha😄 Oh no! Not allowed to go to bottle shows! (We shouldn't be allowed either at this point.. no more room!😬) We are considering maybe an Etsy or ko-fi shop?? 🤔 We need to sell stuff, but we keep on buying.🤣 Glad you also appreciate that little purple bottle! I was possibly the only one who even looked at it.. in the $5 box!!! Unappreciated little beauty.. and unique! I tend to like things that are a little odd. (Looking back, that explains a lot!🙄) -Cathy😁💖

You got some cool bottles! I was hollering for you to buy the milk glass perfume! I sure am glad you didn't pass that up! Lol... The cracker jack charms are a nice find. Thanks for sharing!
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
Lol 😄 I guess I heard you hollering! I mean for 50¢, really!! I do intend to pay the lady more next time I see her. I also collect Cracker Jack (the old ones). I'm thinking "small" these days, as we are running out of room around here! 😬💖

People are so generous! The Lourde's bottle is beautiful, even if it's plastic. (I was an altar boy, so it's dear to my heart). He had some beautiful purple bottles, didn't he?!!!
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
The Lourdes bottle is FULL of Holy Water from France. People go to Lourdes seeking miraculous healings, or visit the shrine where the Virgin Mary is said to have appeared in the 1800's. It is beautifully made for a plastic bottle, but the fact that this viewer brought it to me, from a trip to France, is awesome! I had to show it. -Cathy🙂

Thanks so much! We appreciate the history behind the bottles.. otherwise it's just something pretty on the shelf (but that's nice too!) These bottles shows will start up again in May (other shows over the summer). We will announce dates and locations on our Community Page, as the time approaches. Thanks for watching and commenting! 👋😃😎👍

Cathy and Drew, wonderful purchases and we hope you did well seedling your bottles. Great video, thank you. We have never been to a bottle show. Very nice booths and people, beautiful old bottles and colors. Awesome day for a outdoor show. I knew you were going to get the cute milk glass perfume bottle.👏👍😀

Hi There! I think we did reasonably well that day. (Bringing in more $ than we spent Lol) Drew traded a bottle for the green one. I didn't know what that tiny perfume bottle was at first. I thought the cap was metal (it's bakelite!) That is about the size stuff I need to collect now.. no room for larger items. 😬 Can't wait for the shows to start up again! (Can't wait for the SNOW to go!) ❄️🙄 March should be the start of marble season.. We shall see. -Cathy 🥶😎

Hi Cathy and Drew, fab show! I am amazed that you got the milk glass perfume for just 50 cents! It's beautiful. I love all the purple bottles, they seem to be rare finds in this part of the UK and I have never found one. Is the little trumpet charm silver? I hope so. As always I really enjoyed browsing with you 😁💗 x
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
Hi Amanda! Glad you enjoyed the browse. I really didn't know what that tiny perfume was at the time, or I'd have paid more for it. I hope I see her again next show. A bargain is one thing, but my conscience is worth more to me. We don't find too many purple bottles, because they need to be exposed to sunlight for a period of time (or artificially irradiated), so bottles in the ground or under water (where we find them) are not usually purple. I couldn't resist that crude little purple swirled bottle (1860-1870)! And Drew and I lucked out that our purchases were in fact different from ones we already had. (We don't even know what we have anymore 🙄😬) The trumpet charm is not marked, so I'm still not sure. But the weight, quality and detail are much better than the Cracker Jack horn. I could have spent a lot more, but I was good.😁 The video became my mission.. And I learned what a "nose cup" was!👃😄💕 BTW, we are getting buried in snow tomorrow! Possible a foot! 🦶 Lol Gotta laugh.. What can you do with the weather? 🥶🌨️☃️🐧🐧🐧

@@massriverpickers I know you are a decent person and will compensate Kate when you see her 💗As for the purple bottles maybe we do have more here but, as it's Yorkshire, we don't have the sun lol. We are also awaiting bad weather, another 'beast from the east' is promised for Monday and I am dreading it. I will go food shopping today and stock up just in case. Stay safe and well my friend 😁💗 x

Hi guys!!! Wow!!! Those Revolutionary War ink wells are amazing!!! I knew nothing about them! I've only seen the glass Victorian inks. Is Drew positive there isn't a "n" between the "i" and the "k" on his new one? Lol!!! Kind of like, Revolutionary War era advertising?!!! Great video!!! I really enjoyed it!

Hi Susan! Glad you enjoyed the show.. We definitely need to sell stuff! We are considering an Etsy shop. 🤔 We have done eBay in the past, and Drew has sold a few things elsewhere. But we absolutely need to sell loads of stuff!😬 I also want to do more art and crafting. Anyway, if there was something in particular you saw?? We may still have it. Let me know, and I will look. As for a beautiful weekend.. we are getting up to a foot of snow today!❄️ Well, I guess that can be beautiful, if you don't have to shovel it. -Cathy🙄💖

Jacob Wirth was one of my favorite bars with all the original Victorian back bar awesome German hot dogs with three different mustards mild spicy and hot you couldn't tell them apart You got the hot one and you could down your brew FAST🤪

😄 Nice descriptive comment! I feel like I was there! (But I wasn't). There is a lot of history there though. And a Jacob Wirth bottle was responsible for launching at least one serious bottle hobby, that I know of. And one of my first dug bottles was a Jacob Wirth.. but just a clear one. Thanks for the great comment! -Cathy😃

I wanna go to a bottle show …. Wait you guys just took me to one - Thanks !! I’m one of those kids of the 70s who got caught up in beer can collecting - so I couldn’t help noticing a couple ( A 1974 Hudepohl Boston Red Sox versus Cincinnati big red machine - for example ) The bottle that really stuck out for me was that tiny Pepsi bottle I’ve got a small collection just like it that came from my grandfathers store in St. Louis Missouri in 1972- The Pepsi Jay shop Side note 🗒️- I am 3 1/2 years into taking care of our 88-year-old mother with dementia and literally have not been able to leave the house except for groceries and medication’s SO channels like yours, help me to live vicariously !! Know that you have helped a sympathetic collector in northwest Arkansas, cope with the challenges I face 💪🏻💕🎸🤘

Wow, thanks for commenting, and I'm glad I can help! Bless you for taking care of your mother at home! A sacrifice for you, but so much better for her. My Mom also had dementia. It is very hard. She was 87 when I lost her (physically) but she did not know who I was the last couple of years.. That was the hardest part! 😞 (I was an only child). Hang in there! You are doing God's work. And the next time I see beer cans at a bottle show or flea market, I will make an extra effort to show them in the video! -Cathy 🙂💖

Yes, it happened when the bottle was made (blown in mold).

Are there still mask restrictions in your area?
@massriverpickers Жыл бұрын
Hi There, Only in medical buildings now, as far as I know. Drew is wearing the mask in public to protect ME. Drew is vaccinated, but I am "high risk" for both the vaccine (abnormal immune system) and the virus, so I am still trying to avoid both! (I still wear a mask in public too. I hate it, but I have to) Thanks for asking. -Cathy🙂💖
