I actually thought you were going to put a wall around the trap so that the mice could climb over easily, yet when the trap sprung, it would land on the walls trapping the mouse. It would not have worked with the rat though.

Oh, this trap reminds me of the very classic stone held by a stick. I remember an episode of "Naked and afraid" where a dude found a big mouse nest and such a trap was keeping working all night: they ended up having almost more food than they could eat

People flagging vids is what gets most of them taken down unless its copyright issues. Blame the people watching these at least as much as you blame YT. Then there's how news generally falls under different categories. Same with animals killing other animals. Shawn is big and otherwise tries to be family friendly so I'm not too surprised by his struggles. And it's not as easy as just going to another platform, even the 'unmoderated' platforms either start moderating like everyone else because it's a shitshow or the platform dies.

No way it’s "instant kill". A mouse would suffocate to death from inability to inhale with that weight on its back. A rat MIGHT suffocate; more likely it would starve, if left in the trap long enough, or would await death by other means once the trap is checked. I’m not criticizing the use of the trap, but let’s not pretend that it’s "instant kill".

It'd break their spine and crush their skull. That slab of hardwood, I promise, is heavy enough to make for a very fast end to any mouse in there. That rat, however, would have been fine, though, with the trap as old as it is, the wood might have still gotten stuck on it.

In 2004ish, in Iraq, I was making deadfall rattraps using the 10lb tin of pound cake we would get for “dessert”. But no trip device, I would hold a string tied to the stick holding up the tin and pull it. There were so many and they were so big. I saw a rat pry itself free from a rat trap it got caught it. So it was kinda surprising the 10lb tin was heavy enough to flatten them.
