Yes this jeweler is a font of knowledge, so appreciated. But the real stars of the gem pieces are the relatives who acquired these pieces. Oh my what taste and fortuitous purchases. Try finding such gems today, nearly impossible. Thx so much for bringing them to light.

the emerald necklace does not have tin foil , For a bright base for the emeralds and old diamonds was done with polished fine silver which does not oxidize . 😎 retired jeweler
@Francisnotcis2 ай бұрын
Even in the 30s? Is fine silver 100% silver as opposed to the 92.5%? Sorry to pick your ear, I used to be a jewellery store clerk (just in a mass produced/chain store) so always find this kind of thing very interesting as I would have always rather worked in a boutique or antique jewellers.
@duelenigma7732Ай бұрын
@@Francisnotcis fine silver is 999.9% and since there is no copper it stays like a mirror . It was used in Victorian times because the diamonds then were often flat on the bottom so without the silver they would reflect back poorly . Big problem is over the years dirt gets stuck between the diamond and silver leaving a problem of hard to clean jewellery not looking to it's potential . I would think in the thirties diamonds were cut more like today with a culet ( bottom inverted pyramid ). Usually you would have an opening (ajour) under the diamond to allow cleaning . Cleaning gemstones make them look lively as they should .cheers from Canada Francis .

@jcsinca33872 ай бұрын
Africans had all of this and still do, they sell it, just like they sold their own people. Look at South Africa, now free from the tyranny of Apartheid and white rule only to become a complete failure. They had FOURTY YEARS of black rule in South Africa AFTER they threw out the whites and it is only worse off than it was in the 80s now. Were blacks exploited and subjugated? Yes, but they also cannot seem to govern themselves properly when left to their own means. Kind of like Cuba, Venezuela, Mexico, and all of Africa and even many cities in America they all said they were being exploited by the Whites but when they evict the whites and govern themselves, they got less or worse. Meet the new boss, worse than the old boss. What was the name of that successful black ruled country that has no white involvement? Yeah, no such thing. If Black ruled African nations were so great then American blacks would be fleeing to Africa and that has NEVER happened. Well, there was Liberia and that also failed.
