Mmmm I knew straightaway that Jim Crow was not a sailor but I had to go and google for anymore info. I had heard the name before on TV but that was it. And this is an old show from years before that TV Show was even a possibility so I don’t blame them for not knowing.

Jim Crow was the derogatory name for a Black character in a play and that stereotype's name was used in Amerikkka's infamous Jim Crow laws

His name is Jim Crow?!!! Perhaps the UK isn't aware of important history re: Jim Crow????MAYBE it's AMERICA???? The Sailor Whaler WAS NOT NAMED JIM CROW, SIR. Way more meaning....research is your friend- and the value was based on incomplete knowledge.

you do realize the "jim crow" your talkin about didnt hapoen till the turn of the century and which was after the civil war which was after this peice was made. do your own research 😂
