Have you visited Sammezzano Castle? It is located near the Leccio hamlet of the municipality of Reggello, in Tuscany. It is an amazing place. The man who designed every aspect of the project himself, was a genius. He oversaw the entire building process for forty years. However, I am not sure that 'castle' is not the right way of classifying its style, as it is one of a kind.

It's interesting how one can sometimes find actual archeological treasures at fleamarkets for virtually nothing. I once found a perfectly intact terracotta oil lamp with a lovely relief of a bull or ox (likely the makers mark) on it. The specialist I took it to said it was from around year 0 give or take a few and the former Palestine region. He said "it might as well be the lightsource of the Holy Family in the manger in Bethlehem, but these were as common then as lampbulbs are now and not an uncommon find at archeological sites, so very difficult to appraise value wize today." It was clear the brocanteur thought it was an old tourist trinket, I payed 1€ for it and got the heck out of there! I do hope you go back for that amphora! Btw that snake with the hammer would have had a brass gong hung from the two top spikes, in the middle of the circular loop. Probably asian, and if old enough and stamped might be valuable. Ask if the gong is somewhere, you never know. Thos was a lovely video and the young Swedish couple were sweet. I hope you stay cool in the Italian heatwave! 💕
@gnarbeljo89802 жыл бұрын
PS i thought about you the other day. A very famous MD and egyptologist in sweden (who developed the technique of using X- rays to analyze mummies) passef away and his personal collection was sold in single pieces and small lots on Auctionnet. I thought "I wonder if Curtis is following and perhaps even bidding on these." it made me a bit melancholy, as these unique treasures would surely be more valuable in a museum for everyone to see and learn from, rather than as a "cool" object or bookend in some random guy's bookshelf.
@CurtisRyanWoodside2 жыл бұрын
