I don’t think he does it for moments like these but it is amazing how girls so consistently give positive feedback about Miss J. Because while he did the catwalks and saw working models backstage for decades before this show, he never projects that thing of “oh well she just doesn’t have a good look”. I feel like he is nice to pretty much everybody, tough with those who have potential and start with a weak runway walk (like Allison Harvard Burke) and takes note of who really takes his advice to heart (he watched Shannon Stewart do her walk for Kimora at her ?atelier? and you could see how taken aback he was in the best way possible that she came in by the end of the 1st season with a really strong walk 😊)

I feel like Miss J had a strict mama who raised him to mind his P’s and Q’s (heard him discuss his background in an interview once) and while he is very theatrical, he is always a professional! He wants to teach the girls how to take what they have and take it up a notch. He doesn’t seem to have favorites other than whoever is willing to work hard. Like with Shannon on Cycle 1: by the end of the season, people were saying she’s too commercial but Miss J was like “ooooh girl look at that runway walk” and you realize she has improved on her walk & she talked about taking his advice to heart throughout the season.

McKey has so much potential. She would have done well in both high fashion and commercial modeling. If she had pushed through like Leila, she would have landed major campaigns and walked in all big runway shows. She's gorgeous!

honestly, the antm producers need to take a leaf from your book because you bring out the best in all of these women in their interviews, that little detail about mckey picking up accents was so heartfelt and sweet; why have they had to psychologically torment these women for entertainment when they all had these wonderful depths and attributes?

Great question because with casting they do pick people with nice personalities. Even some of the mean girls are not mean in auditions or if they are it’s to get attention. They’ve got a formula they can stick to. People will watch. But personally I would love if as a society we got past finding it entertaining to see young girls make regrettable choices and wagging our fingers like we never did stupid stuff when we were young

I almost wonder if they gave her such an invisible edit because Saleisha and Whitney had such negative fan responses on the cycles prior that they used C11 and Mckey as a way of having a clean slate and not too polarizing of a winner. But they went a little too far and just made her invisible. Mckey was so likable and fun during this chat!

I think they wanted a very unproblematic winner. That’s what I always though. People were UPSET over Whitney and Saliesha they thought Sal was handpicked by Tyra to win and Whitney was a token to win when that season had some of the best girls in ANTM history.
