Thank you for sharing this powerful story! I completed my music therapy internship at Crownsville Hospital Centre in 1995. I had no idea of the history of the hospital. I now recall the geriatric ward on the grounds. The ward was majority Black women. Every Sunday, I would go to visit these women and sing old hymnals with them. They had a positive response. Their lives mattered to me. I learned so much from the experience. Great job, Sunny Hostin #1908, Soror!

1). Sadly Sunny, it is COMPLETELY believable. 2). If the US prison system, as it is run today, weren't extraordinarily profitable for the owners and investors of those institutions, they would not `exist` as they are. As long as there is a dollar to be made, they're not going to change anything.

So much like slavery. Some mistreatment in institutions is still happening in every public health institution. Nursing homes. Hospitals prison.etc. Yes the prison pipeline and projected poverty or enslavement. I am sure the Foster Care. Homecare and Judicial system still work together History has terrible history. So many people and families have suffered from mental abuse or treatment from society because of misdiagnosis. The one thing that is still happening. People don't address mental issues because of pride.shame and fear. Families are reluctant to talk about it for fear the person will go off the deep end. So they are cautious. MANY times the individual will not accept treatment and turn on the relative or friend or anyone. Relatives get the hardest reaction and mothers suffer so much. When they can't help. Yes, we pray and endure but people who need help get worse without help. I will definitely get this book. There is so much about the entire Health HISTORY OF OUR COUNTRY. ALEX HALEY'S BOOK "QUEEN" IS ANOTHER VERY GOOD INSIGHT ABOUT MENTAL HEALTH INSTITUTIONS. IT DOESN'T JUST HAPPEN TO PEOPLE OF COLORBUT A GREATER DISPARITY IS MINORITY ETHNIC WHAT IS BEING RESEARCHED. IS HOW FAR BACK WERE CHILDREN AND TEENAGERS AND ADULTS AND ELDERLY WERE PLACED IN. HORRIFIC INSTITUTIONS OR FACILITIES OR HOMES AND MISTREATED AND IT IS STILL HAPPENING TODAY. PEOPLE ARE INCARCERATED FOR FREE LABOR. ALTHOUGH. THESE STORIES NEED TO BE TOLD,THEY ARE ALARMING AND FRIGHTENING. ESPECIALLY WHEN KNOW HOW THE SYSTEM WORKS.
