This is very useful - thanks! Artaud is a first-rate hammer. You can just put yourself in his ambit, and things which are congealed or blocked get smashed up for you. Fantastic.

A 32mn10 alain Gheerbrandt parlant d'un étudiant qui interromps la lecture d'artaud : "ça devait être un étudiant qui se croyait chez Ferdinand Lop", la traduction américaine est la suivante : "Maybe a student who felt he was at an agitprop meeting", ça ne correspond pas tout a fait à ce que dit Alain mais c'est normal car Ferdinand lop (1891-1974) est un personnage typiquement Parisien, aussi oublié aujourd'hui qu'il fut renommé dans les années 50, c'était un professeur de philosophie que les étudiants des années 50 chahutaient car il était bizarre et parlait à voix haute sur des bancs publics en déclamant des propositions politique Ubuesque, cette figure légendaire du quartier latin était un personnage emblématique, mon père le croisait souvent à Saint Michel. Bravo pour ce magnifique documentaire, j'ai lu Artaud très jeune et vu la très belle exposition en 2006 à la BNF ainsi qu une autre en 2014 à Marseille, collection Patrick D'Huisme. La lecture d' Henri Pichette, immense poète, est exceptionnel, qu'importe le sens, l'émotion est là.

Artaud died in 1948, at 51 from rectal cancer (maybe chloral hydrate OD to ease his pain). Colette Thomas died at 87 in 2006!
