Linares form, punch extension, defense, ring IQ, punch patterns, and combinations have all improved a lot since this fight, in recent years. Demarco was also a huge weight bully back then, which explains why he's a welterweight now. Crazy to think Linares fought a natural welterweight back then when Linares was still green, and now he's much improved and he's about to fight a natural featherweight, yet people will compare how green Linares looked vs a welterweight to a fight between a much better Linares vs a natural featherweight Loma. Boxing fans need to pay more attention to context. In any case, I can't wait for Loma vs Linares.

10-12? I would say its going past 8 for sure. If I had even odds for it to go 10-12 I would take those too because of Linares size. The only X-factor is cuts with Linares but otherwise I think it goes at least 10. But I have gone back and forth because when I saw Loma in camp, the first footage, it looked like he had bulked up nicely, maybe taken some of the Canelo/Ward meat, but those were kind of close up camera shots that can make someone look bigger than they are. Once I saw Loma and Linares side by side I realized Loma looks nearly as small as always and Linares is not just one division bigger than him naturally but 2. So just based on that, and the fact Loma is not a huge puncher at least not vs way bigger opponents, you have to assume it goes passed 10. But, Linares does cut easily, and Loma is very accurate. So if he cuts Linares by the 3rd round and then another cut in the 4th, it could end before that, but that's unusual even with Linares. I expect Linares to get cut by rounds 4 through 7, somewhere in there, but Linares is willing to fight through cuts, so even that doesn't mean it would get stopped before 10. Then again the NY commission is one of the strictest at least about head injuries, not necessarily cuts but could be that too. Fighter safety in general. So there are a lot of variables but if I had to pick, I'd say it goes past 10.

I actually think Linares looked very good in there. Slips well, nice quick combos, good footwork, good stamina, solid chin. His punches just seemed weak and DeMarco just walked through them; and then in round 11 he got sloppy and hit with too many shots. Loma is definitely going to be tested with this guy

The stoppage was fair. That cut was serious. Both fighters boxed beautifully, Linares’s movement was on point, Demarco just came out the better man that night.

Wow. That was very dissaponting finish. I had Linares way up in the first 10 rounds 98-92. Don't know what happened to him that he would stop moving and just engage in a brawl with a brawler. Horrible mistake by him that cost him both fight and a title.

he was stunned but the ref stopped it way too early that was a great fight though.the cut man was useless.that was a bad cut but he never stopped it from bleeding once.i thought they had adrenaline to stop the bleeding im looking forward to jorges vs loma great post..

Linares' cut-man was horrible, not the stoppage. Jorge's level dropped bad in the 11th round. Stopped using his movement and just threw punches. It didn't help that his face was covered in blood, otherwise he might've got some more time from the ref and survive the round.
