Antonio Vivaldi: “La notte” Bassoon Concerto in Bb Major, RV 501

Vivaldi captured different aspects of the night. His repetitive notes are very fantastic they convey for me the repetitive aspect of breathing...and snoring too. Do you think that Vivaldi was unable to write a true concerto. This is a caricature of the night.

I went to the San Giovanni in Bragora church in Venice to see the place where Vivaldi was baptised, it was closed! Be careful to choose your day of visit 👍🏼

Interesting, I like it. It works better as a cohesive piece rather than a “pick a movement and play it” type of concerto. Wonderful playing!! Is it a baroque instrument??

Even though Vivaldi is my favorite composer and my musical father, I understand he was accused of composing the same work over and over again. Could this be one of those works?
