I admire the recorder playing of Michala Petri. She is the best! It sends shivers down my spine. I have three daughters who achieved Grade 8 and beyond on the recorder not in small part due to Michala Petri's inspiration. We saw her playing in Canterbury. It was woderful!

2:26 is what Rhapsody of Fire fans are looking for from the song Sacred Power of Raging Winds. I tell ya all, in Rhapsody's presentation with that bit in it, my ex and I used to argue so much because she was convinced no single person can play that way and I said it had to be a solo of someone of epic skill. Where we both were wrong is that we both thought it was a flute, not a recorder. I actually would like to here this wonderful lady play by herself with out the supporting band. Just so I can focus on her sound. Some points she just disappears in with the rest of them.

Amazing Michela Petri. Her engraving of Vivaldi's Concertos for Flute(s) with Scimone and Solisti Veneti stays as the best I ever heard. A very nice concert the one here. Only, too much moving of conductor, but this is his style. Respectfully, I would say that (too much) move from conductors affect soloists and music....

I do not think so. I think it would be better having less violins, because they always overshadow the alto recorder even it is made of hard woods such as ebony or grenadilla. That is the reason why French baroque woodwind instruments, for instance, was always doubled: a pair of oboes, a pair of alto recorders, a pair of traversos. Baroque violins have a harshier color sound than the modern ones, so the conductor must be aware of this.

Struggling to hear the recorder with the other music in background. The recorder is a beautiful instrument but solo only
@onemanfran Жыл бұрын
It can be with other instruments but with some caveats - modern metal stringed instruments are too powerful and loud, so gut stringed baroque instruments are better for playing with recorder. Some musicians play vivaldi too loud when accompanying recorder which doesn't help. The recorder used here is also very mellow and then the mic placement is off

how many wrong notes total? three, four? I think any recorder player in the world would be more than happy with that number on a public performance of this concert.
