Although we will have lots of experience building up to becoming an attending, it still will be daunting to have all the medical students and residents looking to you for the answers!! But congrats, you made it - only up from here😁

Haha absolutely bang on with the new surgeon-extreme patients thing! I recently started - ortho spine- and going through same thing. Solo private [India]. No backup for anything and all I get is horrendous spondylodiscitis in patients who are absolute wrecks, spondyloptosis/high grade lytics and kyphotic neglected ovcf in 85 year olds! Haven't come across a smooth fusion or disc at all. I find solace in your experience. I wish I had partners to discuss or do things with!

I love learning, but hate the tediousness and meaningless busy work/information of schooling. Work life as a Civil Engineer is so much better than in college. Much more freedom to do what I want, especially now that work from home. As long as I get shit done, I don't have to worry about stuff after I turn off the work laptop. In college, a 10-week quarter of balancing internships, vector dynamics, labs, clubs, and extra curriculars was a shitload of work.

So awesome your your progress, I have wanted to be an orthopedic surgeon but debating between that an Dermatologist, maybe even plastic, at the moment I’m not competitive but I’ll work hard for that, right now as an attending how much is it that’s being made per month? Are you in private or academic right now with your pay? For overhead you have to pay that as well even if your not the head or the owner of the clinic? Also how did you get your job? Is it going by salary or per operating? And could u go more in debt with hours you will be doing and how’s you will be getting paid with overhead and how you will go into your debt?
