C9 and AN124 are both great aircrafts built by ingenious engineers. Only aggressive government politics that insights nations against each other makes people try to compare and find a better (superior) things because of animosity that is unsighted by the corrupt politicians. These airplanes are designed and built to lift great weight and transport to very long distances. They both very well do the job they were designed to do - exactly as it was requested by the clients. I have to say - genius of human engineering deserves applaud, no matter where these engineers live or work. Most of the comments I read below are ill informed and misguided. I can only imagine what combined force of the human genius can do if stupid politics would get out of the way!... We would probably have a regular shuttle passenger service to the moon and mars by now, instead we are still concentrated on creating most effective killing machines intended for each other! Until we get over this - we are doomed in this vicious circle of hateful comparisons!

No plane planned to replace his two there... no perspective for a Next gen super cargo. Antonov without the Russians cannot embark on a big project. (with the current Ukrainian problems (the Urenian economy is the Poles of Kief, industry is the Russians from the east, its two ethnic groups hate each other) Boeing has no more cash with its repeated proleme on the 787 and the 737 max (plus the global crisis of the Cohen 19 virus, and the slowdown in sales) OKB, for Sukhoi and IIyochine not the skills and hangars to produce such large planes. The Russians don't have any cash. Only Airbus could do it, but he does not have too much experience in large freighters (except beluga) (The 400m is a half failure in addition) However, taking inspiration from the A380 for a Super freighter, with a mobile ramp, could be a perfect replacement for its two birds while offering a payload close to the AN 225. Imagine an A380 with a nose and a quick tail at Cargo This planes would energize the whole sector. It would allow to bow out to C5 and Year 124/225 and a well-deserved retirement. And the worst is that the openings would be much better than for the A380, The freighter explodes and the super freighter even more. Global development needs this type of plane But go and make this understand to the "broom in the ass" who manage Airbus.

Well considering that the CEO of Antonov basically admitted to coming up with the idea after the C5 was already in production, can be seen in a video on Netflix about the Antonov 225. Search for it and you will find it. He made it clear that they were competing with the U.S. with large aircraft and was surprised that the U.S. didn't try to come up with a bigger plane than the Antonov 225. So with his comment mixed with my sarcasm is how I came up with my post. Also, his comment expressed a lot of superiority as well with the 225 being the largest plane in the world. Frankly we don't need anything bigger and if we did, we would come up with it.
