"I want to be an inspiration for the next generations" You already are an inspiration for this generation. The best example it's me. Thanks to you I have started making F1 and then motorsport videos. It has completely changed my life. I have discovered myself. I'm not as good as you, not even in the smallest fraction but I want to spend the rest of my life making films. And if one day I become a somebody you will be the first person I will thank for it. I have the passion to do it and that is all what matters.

First of all I am truly humbled and amazed by the positive response this video has created, I never expected anything like this and I was gearing myself up for a more mixed response. There's also some good constructive criticism which I'll attempt to answer now in this message. I must highlight that the purpose of this video isn't and never was to showcase my driving talents, it's to showcase my passion and thus be a small tiny part of creating opportunities to shape those talents, "professional" opportunities with experienced people. But by no means I'm expecting this video alone to give me those opportunities, creating those opportunities is a separate process from this video. I know this video doesn't show anything about me driving...but it's not meant to. But I must stress that it's not like I woke up one day recently and thought "hey guess what Antti, I can do this!". This is the culmination of many many years knowing deep inside me that with experience I could do this... which in this past year I have finally realized to put into action in the form of preparation to this instead of wasting my life away. Most of my experience and merits so far are on the virtual stages and tracks, which I do understand very well, doesn't automatically and immediately transform to success in the "real world" no matter how realistic the games can be nowadays, it's still far from reality, I'm fully expecting a difficult beginning with a a lot of hardships. But if someone is interested in that at all, I am a virtual world rally champion in Richard Burns Rally, multiple Finnish champion in the same game and multiple Finnish champion in rFactor. But it's not like I have never driven a car in the real world, or never attempted to drive on the limit in the real world (in a controlled environment of course), many of the same skills needed to be the pacesetter in the virtual world, apply to the much more complex real world as well. So to stress once more, I don't expect this video on it's own to bring me any opportunities, it's just a small part of everything. I have a vision, that is the important thing. I'm in the process of trying to find partners for my vision, both commercial partners and creative partners... and my vision is far more important than this video alone in creating those opportunities. But I think you understand that I can't tell the whole world about all the details of my vision and plans and then watch someone else putting things into action for me... I'm not too old, I have 20 years of experience, passion and knowledge of racing and rallying behind me and when I put that into practice and keep building and building on that, I'm going to make history, one way or another I'm going to do something that no one has ever done before. Someone earlier said "you look like 17 or 18 and if you are not in Formula Renault yet, it's dead (I think he meant my dreams and not me I hope :P)", actually I'm 23 years old and my dreams and vision have never been clearer, I have never been more hungry. When I was 15 years old I was told "if you haven't driven a kart since the age of 5, you have no hope." And unfortunately subconsciously I think I believed that back then. The people who make this kind of comments, and there are many of this type of people in all areas of life, certainly are not dreamers. They might be relatively successful in their lives but they are certainly not risk takers, and they want to help others also with their "realistic" thinking, but in reality they don't help anyone. I myself would rather lose big time than never giving myself a chance to win big. If I was going around with the kind of attitude that everything is too late for me, I could immediately just stop trying anything anymore. You know before the age of 14 I had no idea I could edit videos, it's not that long ago afterall, well I think now I can say the rest is history... I'm not going to conform to any age stereotypes or expectations and I refuse to be compared to anyone, my path is unique. So please don't compare my story and possibilities to someone like Max Verstappen who is 17 years old and in Formula 1 next year, his story is vastly different starting early on from his childhood, we are all different. The best is that you don't compare me to anything or anyone. This video is just purely about my passion and dreams, it's not about me as a driver. Only the future can show us that what I can or can't ultimately do...not this video. To all the naysayers I can just say that we are different people with different philosophies, there's no right or wrong...we just operate on different levels and that's it, we don't need to agree. Maybe some day you have a big dream or goal and you understand better, maybe not. Some people believe in what I'm doing, some don't. The most important thing is that I believe in what I'm doing, everything else is a bonus. And to the other dreamers in the world in different areas of life I can say, don't take the naysayers seriously, that's the last thing you should do no matter how unlikely it might seem that you will reach your goal whatever it may be, it can be anything. I'm afraid 99 % of the time the naysayers are just people who are somehow frustrated inside them because they feel like they can't do something themselves.

Yeah, they are too afraid to try something out-of-the-box or extraordinary themselves. They are too afraid of failing. But what they don't know is that giving your all and losing feels 100 times better than watching yourself in the mirror, not doing anything, just giving up, watching the time pass by, death coming closer second by second, knowing you could have been something more.

Hi Antti, I'd like to answer, cause you took my post in consideration in your reply and I appreciate. :) First of all, I'd like to express my respect to your passion for motor racing. I admire your dedication to that, and that's why I love your videos so much. Because this passion can be seen on these videos and no one could ever make better videos without having this passion. Please carry on posting great videos. Second point, I think you are right in saying that you have to follow your heart and your passion, that's a hard choice of life you are making, but it's up to you. I know I didn't choose it. But everyone is different and everyone has it's own path. Honestly, I think you are far too old to ever hope to reach formula one, that's a realistic approach. You may race in other motor sports like DTM or Le Mans, and be very successful. The world were people could start racing late is over. Every 2014 F1 Driver started racing in Karting at 3/4/5 years old and is from a very wealthy family. I do not want to destroy your dreams or your passion, I just want to express what I think. Anyway, I hope you will be successful in your racing driver career, even if you do not reach the ultimate racing category doesn't mean you can not race with passion. Take care,
@FinSituation10 жыл бұрын
Romain Ditto Yes, but just because everyone else has done something, doesn't prevent someone else from doing things differently. If everyone would just sit back and think, well i haven't done things the way everyone other has, so i guess i'll just give up and quit. If everyone was like that, then we'd still live in caves.

For me it's good to see that there is someone who also has a big passion for racing and that counts. If I become in the future a professional driver and you sadly not, I will remember you and try to bring you there as well, because the sport need people like you, who are ready to give everything they can and without them the sport would die. Maybe we see us in the future Antti, I would hope so Best regards Boris

Me sitting in front of your videos with an opened mouth. Totally seized with amazement not because of what I just watched but because of what I felt during those moments. I watched your latest videos, they are good - but you don't need to convince anyone with videos anymore. I can fully understand that you want to go further now - so follow your dreams. You are the only other person I have heard speak with the raw passion that causes others to look at you like you are just naive. You have this certainty in your heart that no matter what it takes you will achieve this goal no matter what others think. I know these emotions very well despite my age (also 23) and those around me that never seem to understand. Growing up I never had parents interested in racing nor did we have the money so I have gotten a "late start" as they call it but the drive and passion have always been there. I am so used my feelings being met with cynicism that I feel truly inspired by the bravery you have shown in making this video. Your words have reinforced my drive to become the first US World Rally Champion and I know that your drive will never falter I only hope that we will meet each other on the stages one day. -Mars

No! No way! I've been fighting my hardest in karts sinces i was 5. I was karting privately before I was allowed to enter into a competition. I'm not wealthy but my grandad is. He said he will help as long as I win. Every race is for him above all else! I'm now 14 and sponsored along with being added to a junior drivers academy. So what I'm saying is there are people like me who work hard. You are a lot older making videos about pushing The two largest forms of motorsport into a new era and making a difference. Your finnish and that's intimidating because you guys are natural quick but what are you doing? Who is supporting you? You have to walk the talk and stop dreaming.

Anyone who came or still come across ur video has touched by ur same passion. Any of us has ur same dream, because that's exactly how does it feel when u have a strong passion for something. C'mon dude, you might not be a F1 champ nor a WRC champ, but still man u have been so lucky to have a great passion for something. We both have the same passion and anytime I feel sad because I feel I can't reach my goals (in motorsport, by the way...) I watch some of your videos to motivate myself and I want to tell u so, as u can understand which big achievements you made through ur videos. Maybe we will never achieve our goals but at least we had something to fight for...and if we fail sure it was not for a lack of passion, but only because certain dreams must remain dreams to be as beautiful as we see...

Sometimes it feels like motorsport has become so stale and dull in comparison to years gone by. Today, we need more Mcrae's and Senna's, more Walter Rohls and Hanz Stuck's, and more Antti Kalhola's with the drive, passion and vision of greatness, the ambition that inspires us all. We need role models to look up to.

Great video Anti, but a little strange approach. I admire your passion and your skills of producing videos. I take for granted your motor sport passion and I wish you finally achieve whatever your goal is. On the other hand I must point out that you can make a difference in the sport from other positions even easier and more efficient than being a successful driver. Actually the drivers never made big differences in the development and growth of the sport itself. Maybe by your video production skills can accomplish more than being a driver. Finally I must point that achieving both championships is merely impossible, even more for someone starting at your age. You will need lots of racings years before acquiring a superlicence and you should have a very big sponsor behind you. You can do your passion even without winning world championships but maybe you can contribute from elsewhere to the sport. Think about it.

Antti, always loved your videos. They have always encompassed the feelings I have had towards motorsport myself, and I'm truly grateful for the work you do. Many will say that you can't accomplish your dream, but I'm right behind you. A virtual world champion is still a world champion, and I have seen that experience in the virtual always translates directly into the real. The transition from virtual to real world racing hasn't really been utilized or embraced by the world of motorsport for reasons I'm not really sure of. Experience is experience, and a virtual Finnish champion is something that 95% of real world racers can only dream of. Just do it. Every day dreaming is a day wasted. And if you ever get to the top step I'll be the first one to cheer from my couch. And if you don't make it, fuck it. You will have fully contributed to our passion. In the end that is all that matters.

I agree with you. And if you were a real team owner, you will also be a very unique one. Not too many owners think like you do, everything now is a business and they don't have the patience to work with a driver and help him/ her be a better driver etc. And like you said, if the kid has the heart, skills don't matter sooner or later he's going to develop them. Cheers!

I'm 20 now and I'm just starting karting, Before I was mostly thinking to start drifting, sadly in my city there is no yard or track where I could practise, only some parkings or streets MIGHT have enough place, but are they suitable for it? Very risky thing. And not that far from my home there is an indoor racetrack for gokarts. Last sunday i took part in contest kart driving event, first time in my life. I finished as 14 from 18 drivers. But after this video, even smallest doubts went away :D I will do my best and I will develope in this what I love. I can see you're very determined and passionate about racing. But what are you really doing to get there? Have you been racing karts or such? No offence, but it seems like you're just all-talk. If you have been racing, please make a video for it. Thanks.

I trully wish you the best of luck, but, if by the age of 23 you are not in F1, chances are that you'll never get there. Anyway, you have to keep pushing and even if your dreams don't come true in this life, there is always the next one :)

Agreed. Especially when you know that Loeb himself didn't manage to get in there, even after all those world titles. Anyway, dream on Antti ! Just keep working, and stay humble. Humility is the only real key to a bright future, especially since you aim toward being an expert In two vastly different fields. Listen and learn, even when you reach the top. Thanks for the effort put into your videos, I'm already a fan. Even if you don't succeed, you'd have tried. Most people out there never do, and that's sad. Enjoy every second !

Juan Manuel Fangio was 39 when he first got to F1; and he became THE KING!
@BlueSkyCrystals10 жыл бұрын
Fangio may have been 39, but the competition was also in their late 30's-40's. I still wish Antti the best.

Biaggi was 17 when he was start to racing with bikes. He was played soccer until then. And see how far he went! You need to know you able to do and when you loose your confidence in yourself, then you fail. As Biaggi. When he tought he isn't good enough to beat Rossi, he ruined his own carrier in GP, but he came back in SBK and reborn again.

***** Thats because it was a different generation. Nowadays F1 teams pick kart drivers who started racing when they were about 4-10... It's sad. I believe that F1 team leaders should look past kart drivers with different race series's. Like stock car racing? Many would-be world champions that unfortunately never made it.

Go for it Antti ! Even though you don't achieve all your goals, I'm sure that combining your video making talent and driving abilities, your pathway will be as ispiring as Senna's was. The Main is not to win it all after all, it's to try and face your destiny. The worst thing at the end it is to regret not having pursued your dreams. Don't hesitate, live your legend !

Aivan mahtavaa! PS. älä yhtään panosta englantiin! se on just sellanen ku pitääkin :)
