I am not a plant person, this is an easy plant to put in the aquarium. Very little maintenance is required, don't have to worry much. I like all kinds of Anubis, always green, and keep my snail and pleco busy.

Anubias are my favorite too!! They are so pretty they almost look fake. I haven’t had luck keeping anything alive in my 10 gallon no co2 endler tank- except for my anubias! How often do I use excel? My anubias are starting to have algae on leaves and it doesn’t rub off! Thank you

So glad I watched. HOLES all over my leaves. I thought it was the snails eating leaves. Guess I better go get fertilizer. Will the holes fill in or not??? Mine have just about taken over my aquarium. Need to split between my other tanks.
@QuebecCichlides3 жыл бұрын
The holes will never fill up, but at least the new leaves will be healthy. If the leaves look like they are losing flesh, add some potassium as well :)

HalfMan HalfCichlid 0 seconds ago I love anubias. They grew like crazy for a couple of years and now they seem to shrink over time. One of the problems is black beard algae. I have cut back on lighting and am using CO2 to try to reverse this trend in one tank. I have also set up a "anubias farm" where I grow them emerged (plastic tote, miracle Gro soil, and grow light), and plan on returning them to my aquariums once they become larger and healthier. I plan on rotating anubias through the "farm" to keep them robust. I am a biologist too and have tried everything to get them to grow like they did for a while while immersed. The question I have is, what pH is your water at? I am concerned that Indianapolis water, pH at about8.2, will not allow me to have beautiful immeresed anubias plants.
@QuebecCichlides3 жыл бұрын
My pH is between 7 - 8.2, depending on the tanks I'm keeping them in. It shouldn't affect the Anubias too much. For black beard algae, check out videos on YT that show how to get rid of it with Peroxyde. I didn't make any on the subject, but its out there.
@HalfManHalfCichlid3 жыл бұрын
@@QuebecCichlides thank you for the input on pH. I have found peroxide and liquid carbon are effective short term but set the plants back because the root hairs and delicate leaves get burned. I am trying new lights and Siamese algae eaters currently

Just bought two anubias and had a heat spike and all the leaves melted off both. It's just the rizone left, no leaves nor roots. I'm hoping it comes back to life.

Coffeefolia is my favourite, but I also recently discovered one of the sword shaped varieties called Lanceolata. My LFS ordered in a bunch at my request, and other people were buying them up so quickly that I got a frantic call asking when I was going to come by to pick some up! 😆 I snagged 4, which was exactly what I wanted. The broad leaf one you showed looks great. My tanks aren't huge, but I like to use some bigger varieties of plants even in smaller tanks. I suppose they'll eventually outgrow their homes - which will be a good excuse to buy a bigger tank! 🤣🤣🤣 Thanks for showing your personal tank. I love your betta! You have some nice house plants too. Is that a ZZ plant (Not sure of the proper name) over your shoulder, near the Monstera? I bought those two plants recently and have them in a little IKEA table top greenhouse, to keep them away from the cats.
@QuebecCichlides3 жыл бұрын
That’s so nice of your LFS to order special plants for you. I like doing that with my regular clients. It forces me to try new plants that I wouldn’t usually get. Worst case, it flops, but at least we had some fun The house plants are just a small portion of my collection The one you see in the video is a ZZ plant - Black Raven variety 🌿 It’s black rather than green 😊
@pjp93833 жыл бұрын
@@QuebecCichlides It was sooo nice of them! I had seen them at a different store, but already attached to driftwood, and I had my own special piece of driftwood I wanted to attach them to. (But in the end, I didn't end up doing that, LOL!) Anyway, they're pretty nice anubias, no regrets! Love houseplants too, though I have to worry more about what is and isn't safe with the cats. ZZ is a new one for me, but it seems to be doing well for me so far.

Wrong. Anubias nana 'Petite' is a mutation first discovered & propagated at the nursery of Oriental Auarium Pte ltd, Singapore, not Tropica, Denmark. Tropica merely bought & propagated the plant. They did not develope it. Get your facts right.
