Shaan Masalas are a life saver for Pakistanis living overseas. Ready quick mix is good but I usually make the Haleem in large quantities so I like to use just the masala packet( it’s also sold separately ) and my own mixture of pre soaked daals and barley. The rest of recipe is same. Only I use half the oil in the beginning and the other half is used to golden fry onions in the end. Reserve the onions for garnish and use onion flavor infused oil to make a zeera, chili, Kari patta, tarka in the very end for a nice color flavor and look. ( you can also give previously frozen haleem a fresh flavor by doing this tarka trick).Also wanted to mention that I always use the electric cake batter hand mixer to mix the haleem instead of blender. This way the fibers of meat stay intact. And it’s not like a paste. Anam’s recipe is excellent . I’m just suggesting some hacks learnt over the years to make the recipe even better 😊
