Hey Alex, this is Taylor, the designer of the Forest Stronghold. Thanks so much for taking the time to review it! It’s really cool that you got the one from Brickslopes and I’m so glad to see you’ve included it in your medieval world! Thanks again!

What I think is that you should keep encouraging Mindy to partake in the reviews. She's a lot of fun and the two of you together is very entertaining. It's a lovely set, and you've found a good spot for it. It wouldn't take too much to close up those openings on the one exposed side. It might be satisfying to do. Thanks for the review!

I'd like to buy the Forrest Stronghold -- it would be my first Bricklink Designer set. But I've never ordered on Bricklink. I recently set up an account but can't find where to list my payment information. The site looks very user-unfriendly -- at least to newbie. I know once the items are offered they will sell out in hours if not minutes. Any tips on ordering -- especially registering my payment info beforehand? Thanks.
@MLT-bricks3 ай бұрын
Once it is online in the Bricklink website, you click on order and you will be redirected to the lego online website where you will make the payment. Once paid the order should appear in your account on the lego website. The money will be sent back to your account about 7 days later, it is normal. The money will be taken again once it is ready to ship. If your payment is declined at that point in time, lego will send you an email. Hope that helps.
@OutpostMJ3 ай бұрын
@@MLT-bricksThank you. Yes, this does help -- you explained it clearly. I guess I thought I could have a pre-listed payment method ready-to-go (like I do with Lego and other merchants). But sounds like at time of checkout it'll be apparent how to pay (if PayPal is there as a "standing option" I'll go with it to not waste time with my debit/credit cards). I'm grateful. Might seem obvious -- but, not quite for me. 😁

Alex, you are so lucky!! Doesn't have anything to do with the name of that guy with the white shirt and blue basecap?! 😂 I was just thinking: If you got the stronghold on Brickslopes - do you have a code for a building instruction? What if the set falls off the the table - I hope it doesn't - and breaks and you don't have a code? Hm... 🤔 That place for your stronghold on the edge of your mediieval world is just pefect! ❤

Alex is awesome, great guy and was very nice to allow me to take it home. I actually have access to all the instructions, but they are also pre-production and do contain some errors. However, I would really hate seeing these come crashing to the floor, much like my Lowenstein castle did during teh show.

Thanks again for another great video. As mentioned previously in one of your other videos, I feel this castle looks way too fresh as an abandoned castle. But the deal breaker for me is, like yourself, I'm NOT a fan of the open back doll house concept. This really limits the set to being displayed from one particular view point only. I know you said that you 'appreciate' the ladders being implemented. Personally it felt lackluster to me, as if the designer built the space first with no pre-thought on how it would be accessed, so a ladder was implemented last minute as a solution. I'm really on the fence about this set. I would like to purchase it to support the castle theme but there are many more medieval themes coming up on Series 4. Side note: I know you're not a big fan of the snow on the Mountain Fortress. Personally, I felt this point of the design was critical, since it made the castle unique and original. Without the snow, it would just be another castle (a nice one no doubt.).
@falconshaun3 ай бұрын
I agree with everything you’ve said here. Another reviewer has also commented on the unstable, flimsy trees. I didn’t expect that to be a problem. There’s just lots of things about this set that make me cautious - the poorly done trees, the open back and side, the low roof on the ground floor, the massive size, and the derivative nature of the build (it looks like the LKC with a bit more foliage). While it’s not the designer’s fault, the uniformity of the forestmen mini-figures is also a problem. LEGO would never release a forestmen set with seven (or whatever) red torsos. It’s a stark reminder that this is a mere BDP set, not an “official” set with input from LEGO’s designers. Like you, I think the snow is what makes the mountain fortress truly spectacular. In my view, that set is at least as good as the LKC - and in some ways, it’s even better.
@vietrounder3 ай бұрын
@@falconshaun I wish the designer the best. I’m sure it’ll do well. As for me, shelving space is really limited, so I will save my purchase for series 4 and 5. I enjoy both the LKC and MF castles. They were intended to be in complete contrast with each other. LKC appears more glorious and is fitting for a castle that doubles as a royal residence. The MF appears more harsh, probably intended to serves as a defensive stronghold and refuge more so then a long term residence (similar to helm’s deep)

@neilrusling-je6zo3 ай бұрын
My friend is the same, he bought the BDP Lego shop and the Castle in the Forest but will not buy any more. He does not like the sets they are choosing because there is no modulars. He hates all these rules and thinks it should be the peoples vote that decide which sets are chosen. More than anything he thinks they are now overpriced considering they dont have printed instructions and he hates building without the paper instructions. So you are not alone with the boycott.
@dmonsef3 ай бұрын
@@neilrusling-je6zo If I was a independent designer, I wouldn't waste my time with this program. There is no profit for the designer and once you submit a project you no longer have the rights to it. Imagine being an independent designer putting in many hours to build your creation only to have LEGO steal it from you. If you build again and showcase it without LEGO's consent, they can come after you with a lawsuit. LEGO is a very greedy toy company! I would rather spend the money for parts, build my creation, showcase it, and put it up for sale like it's a custom purchase. This is just another tool of LEGO to make mass profits, while suppressing designer creativity.
