There are various methods to find the value like, discounted cash flow approach, fund flow method, fair valuation method, economic value added, comparing with similar companies in same industry, etc. This work is generally done valuers. They have the specialization for this task. After getting this value, the entrepreneur needs to decide, how many equity shares to be sold and price to be charged for such share. Now suppose, the valuation of the company comes out Rs. 100 Cr and equity to be sold is 10%. So the ask amount will be Rs. 10 Cr (100Cr * 10%). Vice-versa, if the 4.5% equity is being sold at Rs. 9 Cr. Then the valuation of the company is Rs. 200 Cr ( 9Cr / 4.5%) I know the reply is very big, and sorry in advance if I have offended you. 😅
