This podcast is based on Skanda Purana (Purushottam kshetra mahatmya); Brahma Purana chapters 41-48; Narada Purana uttar bhag chapters 52-55; Mahabharata 3.198. There may be a few minor variations with the local version Skanda Purana 2.2 chp 18.4 says a great scented tree washed ashore. The chp mentions the tree (not stem) 4 times Skanda Purana 2.2 chp 18.46 to 19.8 says Vishnu ji came as a sculptor and completed the murti in 15 days. Local folkore, says Vishwakarma ji was the sculptor There is no mention of half murti. But i have heard the half murti story. It must be from local texts Skanda Purana (Purushottam kshetra mahatmya) 2.2.33-35 mentions Gundicha 6 times as a mandap and utsav Brahma Purana chapters 63-64 mention Gundika as a mandap and yatra. As per local beliefs, Gundicha was Indradyumna's wife

I am from Odisha that's why I know the story and I told you please don't mixture the story. Lord vishnu was not came as carpenter ,lord vishnu send Vishwakarma for carpenter work.

I am from a district nearer to Puri district where Jagannath Temple resides but with my all apologies the story is not completely correct. Nilmadhav didn't submerge under the sand but also it was the original Jagannath Temple established by king indradyumna submerged under the sand Sturm due to his journey to brahma loka. The narrator completely skipped the story of vidyapati and Lalita. Viswavasu isn't a only commoner but also he was the king of tribal population of Utkal and the father of Lalita and the worshiper of Neel Madhav. Daru isn't a specific tree, it means tree in odia that's why the 4 idols called Daru Dian in local language. He told wrong story of idol making process. Also place gundicha maa मंदिर or saradhabali named after queen of indradyumna's name. We are odia and mahaprabhu is our emotion the first place holder of our dynasty and family🙏🙏🙏

National Geographic did a fantastic documentary on rath yatra. It also has the story of jagannath bhagwan. Alternatively, even amar chitra katha has the story of jagannath bhagwaan.

MaaDhav is Maa Dhav, Maa means Laxmi, Dhav means husband, nothing to do with Madhu Rakshas; by killing Madhu, He is known as MADHUSUDAN.

As per the Purana-s - During creation, 2 Asura-s named Madhu and Kaitabh captured the Veda-s. Brahma ji asked Vishnu ji for help and he killed them. So he is called Madhusudan (sudan means to kill). You are right about Madhav's meaning. So my apologies. (Both refer to Vishnu ji though)

Your story is different than actual. Biswakarma requested King Indradumna to make idol by himself. Idols are half made because Queen Gundicha opened the door in middle of making idol. When door opened in middle of making idol Biswakarma vanished and Idol were half made.

Out of 8 siblings of Krishna 5 were killed by kansa bt 6th siblings was jagdamba who slipped out of kansa's clutch nd warns about his death by krishna so in that sense jagdamba is the sister of srikrishna so jagdamba is worshipped as subhadra.

It is nothing to do wt,7th July it is started on the 2nd day of sukla pakhsya of asadh month of hindu calendar. Suklapakhya 2nd day means the 2nd day of the fortnight till purnima (full moon day )

@@gaurangdamani243 Namaskar. Actually you told that after Vidyapati gave info of the Nilamadhaba murti the king came and then it's filled with sand. This is wrong. Actually in between many things left. Vidyapati informs the King when they came to visit the murti that disappeared. Then there was a aerial voice that told Indradyumnaa to go to the bank of Banki muhana sea mouth. There he found the log of wood floating. Then as per the instructions of the God he took that and made the idols as described. After getting nishing them he went to invite Brahma ji fr the pran pratistha. But in between that the temple was burried under sands. The king of Odisha Galamadhabaa cleaned the sand and claimed the temple as his creation. Then there was a conflict between the kings. Brahma came to decide the real thing and then God described him about the puja rituals and the Rathaytra thing. After some days Yama complains to God about the people not coming to Yamlok. Then the Rock of Yama was placed at the entrance of Singhadwara. These things are described in Skanda purana, Niladri mahodaya (the real conversation between the king and Jagannath), Bamadev Samhita, Bramha baibarta purana

Skanda Purana Purushottam kshetra mahatmya 2.2.12.70-78 describes how God Shiva became the king of koti (crores of) linga-s in Purshottama shetra, and that is why the name. Skanda Purana 2.2.12.10 states Indradyumna heard at noon the sounds of musical instruments coming from Kotilingeshwara mandir Honestly, is the scriptural name any different from present-day name ?
