Thing is though, we really don't have any good doctors and engineers either. We really could take these paths and specialize and get into research and development. We need to get into that too, and right now the exact opposite's going on with me and my parents, they want me to do "creatives careers" where as i want to take something on with hard skills and really get into research a development.

Assalamu alaikum. I am an aspiring cinematographer and videographer. So I am actually into media field i.e documentaries, cinema , videos etc. But I am greatly confused and disturbed by the idea that cinema and all are haram. So what should i do? Also my intention in the field of media is DEEN. So any suggestions??

Study it independently without necessarily getting a formal degree in it. Then collaborate with like minded people and start your own business.

Question: How does this apply to Muslim women? They can't pursue a career that involves dealing with non-mehram men. Not all women are good at medicine or teaching. If a woman is creative and wants to become a movie producer or special FX artist she'd still have to deal with men because they're the ones controlling the industry. Does she stop pursuing creative education and just sit at home?

Actually, in the Quran, it says that if a woman wants to work she can. There is nothing stopping her, even if it involves something that involves working with men. As long as she is not doing anything inappropriate then she is allowed to do anything she wants when it comes to her job options.

Unfortunately u r so wrong in ur knowledge about Islam.. Islam never ever forbade women to pursue their interest, unless and until it involves something haraam, and guess what, the same applies to a Muslim man too!! Kindly try gaining knowledge about this from authentic resources..
