😖💩 Anxiety and Poop are highly connected- here’s 3 tips on how to talk about it with your Primary Care Physician and Therapist so you can get help…
1️⃣ Be Clear and Honest: it’s normal to feel embarrassed but doctors and therapists are no strangers to bowel movements. After all- everyone poops 💩 If they’re not understanding, writing down your symptoms and experiences to share in the meeting can be helpful in making it crystal clear what’s happening so they can make appropriate recommendations
2️⃣ Use Your Coping Skills: when you use strategies to help regulate your physical responses to stress, it helps you maintain emotional control so you can say what you need to say. I really love taking small sips of water, or gently massaging my hands to help my body relax.
3️⃣ Keep Talking: these are rarely one and done conversations- keep talking about it with them. It will get easier each time and will help you feel less anxious overall as you continue to practice asking for what you need
