Joy also learned a valuable lesson when stopping Anxiety. She realized she has been doing to Riley the exact same thing Anxiety did. The old sense of self Riley had was based on only positive believes Joy and the others thought were better for her, all while sending all the memories that could result in bad believes to the Back of the Mind. Even if Joy's actions were not harmful like Anxiety's, it prevented Riley from accepting her true self in all of its extensions.

I also think Joy learned the value of anxiety in that it's a necessary short term motivator and skill planner, so long as it does go about unchecked. This film finally explained how anxiety isn't an always negative emotion but is also useful to pull yourself out of difficult or frustrating situations.

I really love how they taught us to focus on more immediate things we can control, rather than things beyond that reach. For many people it takes *years* to learn that, including myself. This may be far-fetched but I thought the detail of Joy helping Anxiety relax was interesting: When people are given medication for anxiety disorders, they're sometimes given antidepressants because serotonin is shown to decrease anxiety in the brain. And here, Joy is seen helping Anxiety by guiding her to a chair and giving her tea. I doubt it was intentional but if it is, that level of detail is INCREDIBLY impressive

What I like is that Anxiety isn't treated the way Sadness was in the first movie. Anxiety isn't put in a "Circle Of Sadness" where she's ignored, instead just calmed and soothed so that they don't run wild. More importantly, Anxiety offers assistance, reminding them of the Spanish test. If you're anxious about a test, you won't forget to study for it. Anxiety, when kept under control, can be useful. It's when Anxiety goes out of control that it becomes a major problem.

My anxiety won’t shut up I give it meds to TRY and quiet down. It takes the edge off but it’s CONSTANTLY there I don’t fall asleep I pass out at night. I haven’t “fallen asleep” since I was possibly ten honestly my anxiety is CPTSD so its comorbid with a bunch of other things and I ask myself “was this here before or AFTER x event” one thing I know for sure is I’ve ALWAYS hated loud noises now I absolutely can’t be around them period without having anxiety/panic attacks. It’s great. I do literally EVERYTHING to minimize an implosion of self. I have LOTS of small anxiety attacks throughout the day but the big ones are minimized now at least to a handful of times a year but they are still enough when I reach that meter it brings me to the ground and I can’t breathe. (Trust me I exhausted all my resources to prevent them) so if I’m lucky I try to find a dark corner to sit/ lay down in out of the way (doesn’t always work) when my hands and head get tingly I have less than a second to sit down or risk hurting myself from a fall. The second worst one I had I was going in for surgery they shot me up with the horse tranqd that knock most grown men out after one (they gave me all three pretty close together) and I was still in anxiety attack mode. I hate the feeling of not being able to control my body or breathing anymore the PAIN of my fists balled up if I’m not able to grab onto something to keep them spread out (usually my knees or thighs which can get a little bit bloody from how hard I’m gripping I keep my nails INCREDIBLY short as one reason so I don’t hurt myself more) just trapped in static as I can both hear everything and nothing around me all at once just trapped in the feeling of it never ending and knowing it will end but the after math leaving me in a derealization or disassociated state for on average 1-2 weeks.
