Great videos. My 7 year old deals with intrusive thoughts that make him believe he's bad, or said a bad word, or laughed inappropriately. Thank you for breaking it down. Breaks my heart to watch him with this battle.

Thank you for your videos, Natasha!! Our 8-year old with OCD has gotten to the place where she moves into extreme panic when faced with any type of school work. She hasn't done a math assignment (I've tried breaking the lesson up, writing it on a separate piece of paper, etc.) for weeks. She just panics, runs and then if I try to get her to come back, it spirals more into defiance at any cost. We've tried rewards and consequences. If you could make a video for our kiddos who are afraid of school work that would be amazing!! (Sorry if you have already. I'm new here and have looked through all of your OCD playlist.)

my son is 8 and has OCD, his OCD tells him that he cannot see or look at certain characters unless they look Just like the version he has which he has altered each one so nothing else will look like his (which he carries around with him). He is distressed every day and even avoids trying to go out now to favorite places because of this. He also cannot listen to music not in certain pitches, or hear certain words being spoken. ERP may help, facing her fears, it will cause alot of anxiety, but exposing herself to her fears, like dropping her food on the floor and picking it up and eating it right away, washing herself only once and getting up even if it may cause her anxiety, doing it over and over again until shes not uncomfortable and anxious anymore, washing herself 4/5 times is a compulsion, and in order to stop the compulsion she has to stop them, even if it may cause her to feel overwhelming anxiety , but that's the first step to stop the compulsions, it will get better, and if your daughter needs company or help, im always available if she wants to have a conversation, im also a teenager suffering with ocd and i would love to help ❤️ i hope shes ok, i wish her a fast recovery

Hi, I just found your channel. My daughter finds fault with items of clothing, particularly trouser lengths, shoes, socks, gloves, sleeve lengths and also hair being in her face. She doesn't seem to be able to switch off from the 'feeling' - too tight/loose, cold/hot, etc - she will redo clothes over and over again, but nothing fixes it. It escalates until she's screaming. It talks incessantly about everything that's wrong. 80% of days we go through this. No strategy seems to work. Some days she does not do it at all (?!) And has no problem with the same clothes. This makes me think it's not actually about the items, but an OCD thought issue. Do you have a video that could help with this please? Thank you x

I'm struggling with my daughter, she is only 6. Her obsessions are intrusive thoughts regarding afraid she will hurt others, her body parts being stabbed, swallowing small objects, and fear of calling people bad names (one right now comes off racist because when we were young we said never call someone a monkey! When she innocently said that towards a POC when she was only 5- now her brains says "I am afraid I'm going to call them monkey!") Unfortunately paired with these obsessive thoughts her compulsions are not actions but verbalizinf them like a tic or need for reassurance. She understands its "ocd" and "bad thoughts" - she feels better when we say "go away ocd" but She can't have a thoight and leave it in her head she has to say it out loud to her friends or family- which can be pretty hard in public because these thoughts are disturbing and offensive at times. Even if we try to label the thoight something else she can't- she can't move on without verbalizinf and confession. Other issues she deals with is cross contamination, hand hygiene, hand licking compulsions and perfectionism

What if a child is unsure about what is good or bad and having lots of "moral dilemmas" ? He comes to me often and asks for approval to talk to kids or chat with kids online. He worries that he is a bad person or he did something bad in relation to other people. He comes to me several time during the day and asks if it is ok to do this or that. Today he asked me if it is ok to chat with a friend who swears a lot. Please advise if this is OCD or not.

I wish I saw this video back when I would have to run back and touch a sidewalk crack that I didn’t touch twice while trying not to miss the bus! But now I drive haha. I hate my ocd. I’ve been getting staff infections ever since I was young because I would overly itch my nose until it was raw because I couldn’t take my mind off of reliving that “urge”. Never knew that was ocd driven. Also when I would put on my shoes I get a claustrophobic feeling between my big toe and the toe next to it and I have to take off my shoe and itch between it vigorously because I want it to stop so bad but I can’t help it. Also how should you deal with intrusive thoughts that if you act out on them it would be horrible?

I have a question, I have this thing where I always have to eat food in order and I always have to eat all of it. Like for example, I have to eat lettuce first in a salad, then cucumbers and then tomatoes and if I don’t do it it’s going to be on my mind for ages that I didn’t finish it/ do it in order. I still remember about six months ago I threw out a can of coke with some still left inside because I didn’t finish it, and it still bugs me six months later. I also have this weird thing with patterns like I can’t get up from bed until it’s 10:10 or go to sleep until it’s exactly 9:00. It feels like I physically can’t… I’m not sure if it is ocd or just anxiety…do you know?
