That wear point is completely true for most shoes or boots. When actually using them in working conditions where you are typically doing very different movements compared to hiking (lots of bending over, squatting, etc), puts stress on that flex point.

I just got these boots in a women’s 7 1/2. I do 3 mile hikes on steep dirt game trails, muddy this time of year. I’ve taken them out for under 10 hikes so far. They are very light weight for how bulky the look. They have great grip on side hills and slick muddy trails. I’ve had to play around with lacing them to be comfy but I’m figuring it out. I hike in minalmalist boots in the summer but need true waterproof boots for winter. We’ll see how long they stay waterproof. The heel tread is too wide and sticks out too far behind for my liking. The Keen Targhi ll’s I’ve worn for years have smaller heels which I like better. Maybe that’s why your heel hurts. But for the shorter walks I do they do the job pretty well.

Got the Renos for mowing the lawn and when summer work is too hot for Georgia Giants. Hope they last given the price

I’ve been curious about those since you got them several months ago. I’m really curious about the low tops.

I am not stoked about the amount of bulk around the ankle, but they are comfy for the time I've worn them in the house so far. The trail will tell all though. Thanks buddy!

I was contemplating buying a pair But when read a Review with photos of the RIDGE flex pair failing with months I gave it miss. Rubbe Will deteriorate with time so that's it's Achilles heel. I opted for the Targhee 2 instead, Even more comfortable than the Circadia I have which I Thought Not likely.😁

I've had my Vasque St Elias for about 6 years now and I love them. I initially went with Keen but I was disappointed with the build quality of the Targhee. Maybe I got a bad batch. Either way, great video!

They look like a quality boot. It's all about comfort though. Nice review. Thanks for sharing.

Just did a 9 kilometer day hike in the alpine at Whistler with these boots. Fair amount of elevation gain. So got to test going uphill as well downhill. Downhill was problematic, experienced a lot of toe jamming. On a longer backpack(my intended use) there could be some serious issues. Also noticed some minor hotspots on my heels. Just to add I have used these boots a few times to help break them in. For me personally, I'm not sure if I trust them on a mid to longer length backpack. I do need the stability and ankle support of a at least a mid height boot. Do you have any recommendations?

Where I come from, your „boots“ are getting referred to as loafers. Something light and comfy to walk between your armchair and your fridge.
