Great review, as always 👏 the thing about rain at TT was already mentioned. Last year it was raining for almost 2 weeks and even if there are too many wet patches or too big mist they cancel or postpone the race. Small shame you didnt mention if tyre temperature affect the grip, if yes how its implemented. Also if the brake temperature have any impact on braking distance. I would also notice that off track grip feels to be the same as on track - or am I wrong? Other thing, bike models. They are inacurate in some parts - wet weather tyres in Honda Bikes, wrong swingarm in Norton V4 or bad rear tyre in BMW S1000RR. Seems like the people who made the models didnt know much about bikes. I dont expect every person in the team to know what they are doing, but someone should keep the content/quality control - they make the game for many ppl who know motorcycles very well. Shame you had no possibility to try multiplayer. Its very important aspect which was broken in TT1 - also for some reason Kylotonn didnt mention a word about it. Not sure if you noticed that in chase cam the dashboard peeks through the rider? Definately a bug. Just like not working LED RPM dashboard lights in many bikes. And yes - the animations of the rider and replays are awful. Seems like whole development time was used for improving physics, TT track and adding free roam world. Anyway I hope the devs will work on the game after the release and will improve some aspects. And last thing.... Community management. Kylotonn fell on this in every aspect. No reactions to ppl comments in social media, no proper gameplays or features showcase. Most of the promotion job was done by youtubers. At least its good they listened to feedbacks of people and improved few aspects before the release. I cant wait to play the game - 2 more days to wait for me, but after your review Im sure it will be epic.

LOL Yeah I know, that's what I want real life weather conditions :-) So there is no manual or confirmation of how these new features actually work, so this is MY own understanding; 1) Tyre temps don't affect handling, but do degrade the tyre. Degraded tyre DO affect handling, and quite a bit too. 2) Brake temps do affect the effectiveness of the braking, but I'd struggle to explain exactly how (kind of by feeling). 3) Off track grip is non-existent, unless you are very lucky, calm and careful. 4) As for part inaccuracies, I'll simply take your word for it, that's not my forte (but I agree). 5) Yes that dash through the rider exists in the first TT game, I did mention it in this and my last review, guess they don't watch my channel lol. I am pretty sure you will have a smile on your face, in-spite of all the issues in this game :-)

Nice game. Nice review. Some thoughts: - Birds look very fake, group of birds looks static floating in the air, birds popping in. - In bright daylight all trees and bushes look like having the same green color. - The world is too perfect: no dead trees, brown/dry grass in summer. The world that is represented reminds you of you playing a game.

Good video. I can't wait. Just about your comment on rain. I actually go to the TT and they don't run in rain. Also if there is any mist on the mountain they don't run either. Rain could be ok on the other tracks, but not Mountain Course.
@SimUKReviews
@SimUKReviews 4 жыл бұрын
You misunderstand me, I want rain to interrupt the racing. Sure they cant race on slicks in the rain, but they do go out when the track is almost dry, and that adds a whole new careful level of concentration! tbh neither the bike physics or the track realism is upto it, but that's what I would love to see. They already have fog, well mist & overcast shadows, this would just be the next level. :-) Still, as it is it's great.

I went to the TT last year and pretty much the entire race week it rained or the racing was postponed because of the weather and the track conditions but the officials on a couple of occasions allowed a lap or two to test if the racing could go ahead and the mist over the mountain was a big problem as well. Shame this years TT has been cancelled I had my ticket booked and my bike was almost set :(

In terms of sound I can't say I've ever heard suspension, stones, anything but the engine on my bike. In fact I've never heard them on any bike, frankly. I'd disagree that all 600cc (supersports) bikes sound the same, but thats what I ride (07 ZX6R) so I'd imagine some amount of people might disagree with me. Ride 4 certainly does well to distinguish the different engine noises. I'm still a little cautious, but this review has done enough to convince me when its on discount. Plus a great review, in depth, well articulated, I'm glad I found this.

@@SimUKReviews Thanks for the link. Half way through that video I finally relented and got the game. You make it look a lot easier than it really is. The campaign looks great, the atmosphere is worth the price of admission alone so far. I noticed you'd tried Ride 4, if you haven't given MotoGP 21 a go I'd strongly suggest it. They remade the physics engine and its the first motorbike game I've ever seen where I'm able to happily call it a simulator - motorbike games can finally go toe to toe with Assetto Corsa. That said the AI is still just as bad as before (comically bad), they've tried to make it but it still sucks. And you really need rumble to know where the tires are grip wise, I'm not sure if your amazing controller has it or not. But you get that type of feedback on a real bike, not through rumble but its there. But still, for the physics alone I'd strongly recommend it if you haven't tried. From what I've (very briefly) seen you seem to enjoy the realism, and too realistic was the main complaint a lot of people had (sigh, just use assists). Also I stand corrected on the 600cc noises. IoM TT doesn't really do them justice at all.

I think it would be a nice touch if the first time you get to the tt in career mode you have to wear the orange bib and do a lap, with commentary (preferably from Milky Quayle) on important points, bumps, positioning, which could be implemented in the same way as rally driving pace notes, baring in mind the company already make rally games. This could be accessed from the main menu at any time as well. Also selecting simulation difficulty in the game is a bit of a misnomer as it turns all the assists off but irl the bikes do have tc, aw etc. Very much agree with your opinion on the upgrades/tuning access. Utter bs. Despite this I'm enjoying the game and it is an improvement in most areas. Noticably on bog standard ps4, the improvements in lighting are very noticable.

@@SimUKReviews kind of frustrating though since the milestone games don't have gyro until speed picks up and it's the same thing on a real bike I don't feel the need to countersteer until about 25kph and up until 80 the bike isn't the most stable it's not until you go past those speeds that you really gotta push the bars to get it to fall over into a turn. Granted my bike is on cast alu wheels. Forged alu, cf and mags are lighter but that just moves the gyro effect further up so if anything these tt bikes should not be having hard gyro steering until you've really picked up speed.

I have it on Switch and it's great. Blows my mind that I can play something like this on a mobile device. One issue: the switch controller doesn't have an analog trigger, if that's the right word. Basically, the throttle is either 100% on or 100% off. However, the game also allows you to control throttle with right stick, so I changed to that. Took some time to get used to, but now I'm 100% used to it and it feels like I have an incredible amount of control over the bike. It's great.

@@SimUKReviews I just played 30 mins and noticed two things: 1. The bike doesn't swerve off the road anymore... fine. I did encounter the bike collapsing from underneath me because it didn't like the way I went over a bump. 2. Traction control does nothing. It's impossible to low-side. Power slides don't exist. You can full throttle at full lean from low speed in 1st gear and it sticks perfectly to the road.

That's my big issue as well. Bought the first one as a digital release, based off the fact that I had actually enjoyed their rally game. But it was dire....anybody who has ever ridden a bike will tell you that the first one was a joke when it came to the physics. Not to mention those control issues where you got flung off. I read so many tweets from unhappy customers aimed at the devs, and they completely ignored them all. They never address the weird handling glitches, and never attempted to fix. them. I'll be waiting on as many reviews as possible, and considering the money I wasted on the first one, I may well wait for a price drop as well!

I think more games should do demos. I look at TT and think it would be a blast to play but their are some good points you make that has me on the fence. In all honesty I wish someone would make a game that was solid as a racer but also have a proper free roam (aka a larger map would be nice) because that's what draws me in the most to this game. The idea of having the best of both worlds and I can have something to play when it's winter here in Wisconsin that's not so arcade feeling like The Crew 2 and GTA would be perfect to me. I've been playing MotoGP 19 this winter but I would like to have some real stretches of road to fly down like TT offers. Probably going to break down and buy it or at the very least wait until it's on sale.

@@SimUKReviews So after picking it up and playing for a bit, I feel that it is a very good game. I will admit that some of the game seems like it could have been polished (like the map during races and the inclusion of a clutch would have been cool) but otherwise it's feels good to play. The bikes feel like they have some weight behind them without feeling sluggish and I love how you can go from a casual ride in free roam to high octane races in career mode that had me butt clenching to stay in first (first-person is the only way for me). I haven't had issues with random crashing on flat road or the instant wheelie after re-spawn yet but I'll admit that I haven't played hours on end yet. I picked up Ride 3 at the same time since it was $15 but after playing them back to back Ride 3 was actually the game I refunded. Do I think that TT 2 is worth the $40 price tag? Na but I think that's only because Steam spoiled me to think that all games are

Bikes do handle differently at low speed. Just try the UK mod 1 bike test around cones ! ( I failed my first one, maybe coz I'm OLD ! ) Steering changes , from steering the way you'd expect, to counter steering and lean, all depending on speed of the bike. If you're not a biker, have a look on youtube for bike counter steering (sorry if I'm stating the obvious) Which leads me to wonder does this , or any sim bother with thinking about counter steering ? I have ordered this game, hope to get it soon, and one of my concerns is it isn't really going to be anything like riding a real bike. Graphically and sonically it appears to be very good. It's the control method, and sensation of the bike that I wonder about. A console games controller is nothing like handle bars, twist throttle, brake lever, brake pedal, gear pedal and clutch lever. I might have to build my own custom controller using some pedal bike handle bars, ebike throttle, couple of levers and a foot unit with pedals that work like a bike. This is of course assuming the game allows customisation of control. (I've seen one for sale, but it had some mediocre reviews) However since I'm definitely not going to get the Isle of Man proper this year (it's been cancelled) , with this I can do more than just watch videos of previous TT races on KZbin, even if I'm stuck on a PS4 controller, I can pretend I'm Hickman, one of the Dunlops, or even Mike Hailwood :) I have seen a full bike simulator , on hydraulic rams, with what looks like a real Ducati bike on it. I wanna go of that !

I have a full Hs2 system (watchmy video review) on this it is brilliant. You wouldnt be able to steer through cones on this game, the handling at low speed is non existent and too slow to switch. It's not full sim, and yes GPBikes is the only sim I know of with countersteer, but TBH countersteering is not an active decision thing in riding, it becomes second nature, sub conscious. Many riders ride never even knowing its existence.

Rims had surprisingly good force feedback and lots of options and settings, haven't played it enough to judge yet, Ride 4 felt like Gran Turismo 3 for bikes, kinda cool how much there is and all the bikes and ease of understanding the feel intuitively, but felt too easy, then I put on the Realistic difficulty with no aids and I'm loving it. I especially like the cameras/views in Ride 4. TTIOM2 still feels the most compelling and thrilling, like I'm drawn to want to master it and I think there's some special X factor to the experience when I'm doing well, but man is it unforgiving and it has some wonky cameras. You can practice in free roam or quick race. For the Grand Prix races there should be qualifying tho I agree. There should be Ulster and Macau etc as well. I think not having the same tracks as the old game with the additional tracks is strange. Ride3 had a lot figured out with handling. The new way is okay I think it's just an adjustment. Its easier for younger learners which personally Id rather attract. These new games are great and weve gotta step a bit back for the youth. Even MotoGp is just getting their sht together with Gp20. 19 was horrible I didnt even play it then 6 months later 20 came out... This game could easily be patched and for $85 they probably will be cool about suggestion. Arcade and Sim mode would be cool so your buddy can play with you split screen on arcade and keep up.

It's a big improvement from the first iteration but still a long way off the Ride series for instance. The bike corners some of the slower longer corners like a car and there is no feeling like the front will go or the rear will come around on you if you over do it like on Ride. On the other end of the spectrum the very slow sections like Ramsey and Governors Bridge are an absolute nightmare to get the bike to turn properly.

My buddy does the Isle of man pilgrimage. He had an off at 120mph. In his words. The bike stepped sideways then it all went slowmo. He kicked the bike away and he slid down the road on his back. The bike was trashed. His leathers, helmet and back protector trashed and now live in a display case. He has a picture of him on his back in a cloud of bike shrapnel. How can you not get a game with the Snaefell in it?!! EDIT - That career looks crap. But there's a lot of players like me who just ride the Snaefell and occasionally the other tracks against friends. @@SimUKReviews thanks for the reaction, but the sweeping motion at the tire-contact level on the tarmac while steering does make me reject the Game, as being not really a SIMULATION as it advertises to be. The Arcade system is made better yes, but does not compare to the driver experience one has on the old GP500 game, where the viewer moves and not the tire/back wheel. Such precise steering could only be done with a sensitive joystick, and does not compare to the ugly movement of arcade , with beautiful visuals or not. Motogp19 and 20 are still arcade systems and does not do the job well. I assume there are no others? It's a shame to be forced to 4 wheels ..:-(

It became more of an opensource game, as the programming became clear, new sounds, new skins and even new modelling of bikes and circuits.. The visuals on today's games are indeed very well made, but they are not what a game makes a SIM, one should first have the right movements, which is the base, all other systems do not fit the bill, and shouldn't be named a SIM. Let's hope one day... Cheers!

Kylotonn is one of the few that can spoil its prototypes. In the first part, the graphics are beautiful, warm, soft colors, fog on the road and beautifully reproduced motorbikes, especially in the garage (Xbox one X). Two are already on the Wrc 10 engine and everything is less detailed, faded, only the sunsets are nice. The sounds of the engine are correct, especially the exhaust sounds great, but they are drowned out by too loud sounds of passing obstacles. The camera from behind the glass is ok, but the one behind the steering wheel is not very playable. Tires and brakes get hot, but I have not noticed any effect on driving. The view from behind the motorcycle is tragic, not only is the pendulum still running away (dynamic view) and unfortunately it cannot be changed. It's nice that you can buy parts in career mode and you can finally see what you win. I am able to ride motorbikes in real life and I do not know what this game can be called a simulation.

If the engine is already on top gear and touching the rev limiter is mecanically (in real life) impossible gain more speed, even by slipstream or downhill... So is not a bug but what it feels is that the bikes reach top speed really fast. maybe the game should weaken a little bit the power in relation off the CC to have a more natural(real) aceleration.

I think your analysis is very good but in a couple of areas a bit unrealistic or slightly over the top respectively. The company that made this game is not AAA-titled meaning they won't be bringing out a game that is 100% realistic, because nothing can be 100% realistic. On the other hand they do have the technology and the skills to make a game look and feel realistic as possible but the Pay-to-Win mechanics are a big no no for me as well. I just hope for in the future the devs bring out regular updates and listen to their community. I won't be buying this game until I know for certain that the game will be updated regularly and people are generally happier with the game because of the updates. Can't really get better at the game. Just yesterday I tried my first Classic TT. All the AI and me on the single Suzuki the game has to offer. I lead the whole race, second starter AI did come close when I did a pit stop, but nothing that worried me. The entire race I was infront, and had a comfortable lead of about 40 seconds. No indication whatsoever that I was to slow. Since everybody rode the same hardware I though "Tough race yes, fun yes, glad I won in my first try at the full course". Stupid me, after I done the race the AI needs to catch up, which they did. Couldn't belive my eyes. I had a 74 minutes xx second ride, and the AI 73 xx seconds which made me 6th overall. I still feel so cheated. A couple of minutes ago I finished a career mode time trail on the TT course. Race the sections 7-12 or what. Due to a few crashes I could follow the AI a few sections. When I had a break zone, they just falt out hammerd through that. How should a beginner learn the course and race hard when you stand no chance?

Have modders come to the rescue yet? I can say this...anyone who is going to make a game like this needs to understand that they have two distinct audiences. The first group will be looking for something that is fun. They will like much of what you described as the arcade mechanics of this game. They will like perks, power ups, etc... They will also like things to be unlocked, such as liveries, custom leathers/helmets, etc.. They will also want the riding aspect to be easier. The second group will be more interested in a simulator. Any arcade mechanic inserted in the game, is going to lower the appeal, for this group. This group is looking for the most authentic experience a game can offer. They want to feel as if they are really there, on a real bike, riding on the actual track. This group would be happiest with no arcade mechanics, and no unrealistic unlocks. This group would want a practice/solo mode, where you can ride the track on any motorcycle, for as many laps as they can do. This group would love it if bike choices included actual bikes that real world racers rode on. Even if it didn't include every single bike, for every single year. DLC packs could be offered that added bikes, if necessary. So...what anyone who wants to make a game like this needs to understand is that they need to make two distinctly different modes for these games. Sim or Simulator should always be used in the name of the mode for the second group. The first group is trickier. They want more fun than sim, but people's egos get in the way. Arcade and Casual are mistakenly assumed to be a derogatory description. Let me explain. I've seen people on Nexus Mods, using every mod they can find that removes every bit of difficulty in a game like Mass Effect Legendary Edition but then play the game on Insanity mode. I mean, WTF? You see, their ego won't allow them a better experience by just setting the game to Casual. So, for the names of the mode, something like "ProSim," could be used for the simulator mode, and then something like, "Challenge Power Up," could be used for the mode that is less sim and more fun...for those looking for that experience. A description along with those choices could advise you to know yourself, and what would be the most fun for you. It can say that the sim mode is for those looking for the most accurate simulation at the expense of things that some people consider to be fun in a game, while the Challenge mode focuses on fun, at the expense of some sim aspects. What they need to stop doing is thinking that they can make a hybrid that will please both groups. The old saying, "If you try to please everybody, you end up pleasing nobody," was never before more true than it is here...and frankly that's true in any game where some are looking for a sim, and some are just looking for a fun game.

The track is near perfect. The bike is better but not perfect yet, and no the modders have not come to the rescue, BUT this is one hell of an experience; be sure to check out my Tutorial with Milky Quail.

Dreadful noise coming from the bike at top end all the time. I will avoid this one, game dev seem to love releasing unfinished games nowadays.

What I can't understand is why they didn't bring these physics updates to the original? The cynic in me would say that if they did do that, then no one would bother buying this. So, the devs abandon the first game and force all the original buyers to have to pay full price, again, if they want improved physics. Absolutely disgraceful behaviour and a complete scam!

Complete physics rebuild, not an update at all, it had to.be a new game. And I have to say it is a lot better.

Why did it have to be a new game? You already said that the sound and graphics were almost the same? The players of the original will be extremely miffed that they could not bring these changes to the first iteration, especially as they were pointed out from day one. I'm afraid games companies like this make me sick, basically producing "abandonware" games, just releasing and making a few small updates, then moving on to "next years version", which is basically the same but with the problems fixed from the first version! Absolutely shocking and a kick in the balls for all the original customers........

@@SimUKReviews is it the same game engine? If so why couldn't they have just updated it? I'm sure they developed this much quicker and chesper by copying the track and textures, but still charging AAA prices.

So this is a racing game that claims to be realistic, and there is no practise or qualifying. So you always start first then? That will get boring really fast

@@gomezthechimp1116 yeah i know, but it just feels wrong. I want to be able to use the other riders as a reference. For an example, if im the 30th rider to start. How many am i able to pass, are the riders behind me faster, understand what i mean?

motorbike racing games are fundamentally flawed unfortunately. Unless you happen to have an arcade bike to control it ofcourse
