Always appreciate your tutorial. I will do this method always. Beautiful, strong and very snug for my big heavy religious books. May God bless you. Thank you so much.

I, too, love collecting vintage books and magazines. Every now and again I will grab a pile of them just to browse through to get some inspiration. Love the choice of fabric since this is a sewing book. I have the first fabric "books" and have made a book cover for my husbands journal.

When I was in middle school I made book covers with brown paper grocery bags, they were printed with lines to cut and fold. They were sturdy . I also made book covers from old blue jeans. They would last all of the school year. You can add pockets on your book covers if you want to. The pockets would be very handy on a journal to hold a pen or pencil.

Great video which I will be using. Thank you for posting. I’d be tempted to add a piece of ribbon ar the top of the spine fabric to serve as a book mark.

At one time I had my mom's high school sewing book (cousin also used same book in same HS) from 1940s. Sadly it was lost when my home burned, we lost everything. It was a very good reference book. Treasure your book!
I just love this cover. I have a heap of old cooking books that could do with some covers. Now I will be on the lookout for some nice fabric to cover them. Thanks you for this Laura.

The fabric is cute. A cover on the book helps to keep the book in good condition.

If you want to add top stitching to hold a crisp edge, you'll have to add fabric to your cover... If you don't, your cover will be too small by the amount of top stitching. ... In other words, remember that the cover fits inside the top stitching and will make a flange around your book. 💖🌞🌵😷 P.s. my advice is skip the top stitching and do it like Laura demonstrated in this video.

I just love mid-century modern art and styles. Books such as this pique my interest, to be sure. I can understand why you might consider sewing the suit you pointed out from the book -- very striking. I also appreciate the tutorial you provided today. I always come away from your channel with new information. Thanks!

I would love if somebody would make cover for a simple paperback book, one of those mass market paperback books, nobody does that size and that is what I really need. Everybody does hard covers.😢
@tlsnana9539 Жыл бұрын
Good question. Couldn’t you just measure your paperback and do the same thing? I’m really curious because I hadn’t considered covering paperbacks but now that you mention it, I like the idea. I have a soft cover Bible and I’ve worn out the cover. I don’t want a new book because it’s my favorite and full of my notes. It’s between the book shown and a paperback size.

I love this tutorial. I have one question and one suggestion. Suggestion first: if you are going to glue back the spine make sure you use good glue from bookbinding websites. I used to do bookbinding and in the beginning I used one of those cheap glue you find from book supply area, after a while it develop a mold in my book that was a lesson. Question, you did not top stitch when you finish flipping the cover to the right side why? or maybe I will find out when I do this tutorial why you did not top stitch. thanks for yet another useful tutorial.
