One thing I should point out is that on this printer, as well as other's I've used, the build plate does not tighten evenly when leveling. Once you tighten the Allen screws for the build plate, one side presses down on the LCD much harder than the other side. I've had to install a shim about the thickness of two pieces of paper on the right side where the plate tightens. This is because the plate mount is a fraction too wide and doesn't tighten evenly. For a shim I use a leftover anti static material I get when ordering Arduino parts. It's not effected by moisture, alcohol or resin.

I would like to know why nobody references actual dimensional accuracy for these printers. A lot of users may not want to print only monsters and fairies, but would like to make serious parts for things like robotics and other mechanical devices, where accuracy and tolerances really matter. Can you point us in the right direction for any of this information?
@kerseyfabs Жыл бұрын
Absolutely! The general reason that no one talks about it is that these screens have a known and fixed resolution that you enter into the slicer. Unlike an FDM printer where you have to rely on a motor going very specific distances and putting out precise amounts of filament, this will always print the part exactly the right dimensions as determined by the screen pixels. There is tuning to do though just like any printer based on the specific resin and exposure time. I've been doing this recently on my new printer where I print a test print and measure the results based on exposure time. Maybe this would be a good idea for a video? Let me know!

Hi Kersey, you have the best review, thank you! Could you check with your great contact at Anycubic if it actually comes with the screen protector? It seems so, but in some reviews people put that "extra" protector on top of the one that comes with...
@akayeworld35062 жыл бұрын
I just got mine tonight and ran into some confusion with this same subject. It's hard to follow the printed manual accurately because the translation from Chinese to English is not great. It did seem to insinuate that you want to remove the screen protector that it ships with, and install the new one (provided) that some people are calling an "extra" one. This seemed kind of obvious for me because the screen protector it shipped with had a good amount of light swirly dust scratches on it, so it didn't seem like it was supposed to stay on like that. I removed it and replaced with the provided new screen protector.
@MSPalazzuoli2 жыл бұрын
@@akayeworld3506 I think we are not talking about the same things, they are 2 different things. My printer (like everyone else's) came with a protector that we're trying to figure out what it is. It is the same as one of the screensaver protectors (the one with a black tab). Note that the extra protector (or the only one, which came to install immediately) has 2 protectors on it, one with a black tab and one with a red tab. The printer looks like it came with a screen protector installed and with it, one of those screen protectors protector, with a black tab, that is, it must have already come with a protector installed, I think. That's the question, was that black flap protector that came on all of us's printers, was it directly protecting the screen or was it the protector's protector and was it protecting the pre-installed screen protector? That's the big question.

This resin printer seems to have a bigger build plate than other resin printers. Please correct me if I am wrong. Would this resin printer be a good first time resin printer without having to edit G code or slicer settings?
@kerseyfabs3 жыл бұрын
This is a larger resin printer than a lot of the others on the market. While I printers require you to learn how to use them (leveling, supports, etc.), this one is no more or less difficult in that regard. A couple of other things, resin doesn't use gcode, so there's nothing to edit there. You will have to learn resin settings and slicer settings just like any 3D printer.

@@kerseyfabs I have it on my office so the temperature is no issue, I have level it and change the exposure settings. I even got a different resin I just don’t know what else to try

How does it fail or does that first layer never stick?

@@kerseyfabs As it turned out I was able to get onto a pre-order and I've had my 6k for about a month now. I have to say it feels a bit like Anycubic just threw some new numbers into an advert to try to sell some left over hardware, because there are issues with this printer that the standard Mono X doesn't have (the lack of RERF support being the big one). It's also mind-bogglingly slow, it's far slower than my old Elegoo Mars Pro - and that had a colour screen! I think all things considered I wish I had gone for the Elegoo Saturn instead or maybe continued saving up and gone for the Jupiter.

@@Vormulac1 I had never used a RERF before. I had always just ran a few test prints at different speeds to find it. So that's news to me. I definitely don't find it slow, so I'm not sure which resin/settings you're using. I'm running 2.4 second layers with the last resin I used. Is that slow or are you not able to achieve that? If I remember correctly, Uncle Jessy was able to get some really fast layer times on this machine too.
@Vormulac12 жыл бұрын
@@kerseyfabs Using Anycubic basic grey resin I find 2 second layers work ok, but a file that takes 6 hours on my Mars Pro will take closer to 20 hours on the 6K - and that's with 0.05 layer height and recommended settings! Crazy.

No mask while washing the models, no gloves after that either. Rubbing his nose while handling a freshly washed model. What a badass!
