I really love your broccoli recipe-I watched one for cabbage pancakes yesterday! My mother brought me up to love things like broccoli,cauliflower,cabbage, greens etc. She didn't just boil them briefly with no seasoning, like a lot of Americans used to do-where they turned out hard & flavorless. She taught me to treat these great veggies w. the respect they deserve-that they can taste like meat, as you say! ( My mother was American-of Irish & Swedish heritage). But I don't think that has much to do w. it, but I believe it is passing down great family recipes! & a natural ability to cook. I love your delicious,appetizing recipes & watching your great techique- the way you move your hands etc. You are truly an inspiration! Thank you so much!

2:30 - Don't discard the broccoli stalks! Cut the soiled ends off and slice the outer skin and stringy bits off them, to leave just the inner white core. Eat the core raw, it is delicious and crunchy, with a delicate flavour. 😋 Cook's perk!

The stalk has the greatest nutritional value. I generally cook the stalk with the tops. I can't see why this recipe couldn't include the stalks too. They could be grated in or cut smaller.

Why peel the potatoes? Most of the flavor and food value is in and right under the skin. I haven't peeled a potato in 60 years. I scrub really well and remove any bad spots. Can there be a substitute for the cream? Would yogurt work?
@brucedillinger94482 жыл бұрын
I would guess yogurt would be fine as well as sour cream (fat free if you like).
@Einfache-Rezepte2 жыл бұрын

you are like my mother i am from a small faimly of 5 kids but some think it is large but a lot of faimlys like mine with7 to10 in those days cause it took that many to do all the work around the place. my mother and granmother would do the same just leave the out side skin on and cut it up and serve i thought she was just saving time to feed all of us and didnot take the time to peal things but it tast so good but i did know the good stuff is in the out side cause when you bake potatos the best part is the out side the best tasting part cause i would cut the inside out and put on the side of my plate and eat just the out side part and still do to day and i'm74 and i love just the outside part of the potato it is good with sower cream butter lots and parsley lots and bacon bit's thyme with large pepper corn just lightly broken toss a teaspoon of garlic an parsley seasoning italian dish and it is great and you are right on the out side part is the best better for you .
