Hybrid Picking & why you should be doing it (with 10 musical examples)

Hybrid picking is such a useful technique, and one I use all the time. It's certainly not just a country thing, and can work well across a whole range of different styles.

I started hybrid picking back in the 70's. I was touring with a band and was playing a hotel in PA. It so happened that Louise Mandrell was listening to us one night. She called me over and commented on my hybrid picking. She said she hadn't seen anyone play like that. I had been doing it for awhile and really didn't know that many weren't doing it.
