I'm not even religious but more artists need to perform in churches like this. The vibes are beautiful as fuck. Compared to some plain as club or venue lol

Churches are literally designed to have awe inspring acoustics. I'm my home tyown we have a 17th century church in which Baroque concerts are sometimes held. It is a magnificant experience - and a far better use of such spaces than religion.

this video has become my favorite of the internet i think. everything about it just feels so human. adrianne taking her time to tune the guitar at the beginning. the little interactions between adrianne and the crowd, asking them to join her singing and the choral starting shy and slowing becoming this gorgeous unison of beautiful voices. sometimes she even lowers her voice to hear the crowd sing along the words of this gorgeous song. the panning on the location, just appreciating the place they're in right now. the person replicating the little "oh" at the ending of the song and everyone laughing. idk everything about this just feels like humans connecting through music, everyone having their own meaning for the words they're singing. i've always loved this song, it makes me feel like no other, but I was never able to put into words what made me love it so much. of couse it sounds beautiful, so grand but so intimate at the same time, the guitar strumming, the layers of ambient noise, adrianne's vocals so soothing but so powerful, and obviously the absolute genius of the lyrics, so simple but saying so much. but even with all of that, there was still this thing about the that just touched my heart so much and i didn't know exactly what it was. but i think this video gave me an answer, this song is the sound of human connection, the moments we share, the lives we live together, the memories that makes us being human beings. thank you so much for recording this beautiful portrait of human life and sharing it with the world ❤

This is a totally random thing to point out, and Idk why but yhe man that starts singing..the way he says “soothe” literally soothes me. The way he pronounces his words so smoothly is so satisfying. It’s the same way my good friend speaks as well and idk why, but it tickles my brain?! Just me?

The pan up to the ceiling was a nice touch. I’m not sure I’ve ever seen such a strong connection between an audience and an artist. I realize that comparing anyone to Joni is risky and fundamentally unfair but, jeez, it’s becoming more apt every day.

Honestly, outside of the experience as a whole, the cathedral was incredibly beautiful. Props to whoever booked it as the venue for this performance. I recorded these videos with a DJI Osmo Pocket 2 & while it did capture the audio pretty well, I wish you could've heard their voice carrying through the building firsthand. The acoustics were breathtaking. When they played Happiness it brought me to tears momentarily. Watch that one if you haven't yet.

There were a couple of versions that I saw recently, where people were singing along. They were nice and all, but there was something as special about this one where you could just hear her voice along with a handful of other ones (I second the guy's voice sounding very complementary). Also dug the footage. It was nice to see the camera pan now and then to take in the church and the lighting effects - especially for those of us still cooped up from these lockdowns. Oh, and let's not forget getting to hear her tune her guitar in Open D/D# by ear, slap on the capo and casually pluck that beautiful lead-in

@@elliegallagher676 If the first two times she stopped sing and a wince wasn't enough of an indication she was throw off by the backup singer, then surely 4:21 was. I don't know Adrianne personally, but the exaggerated head turn to the side, forced smile and looking in the direction of the sound was a visual sign of frustration. Boundaries were crossed, Voices were mingled and all we can do is move past this, and in time wounds will heal. Sure was a good song though and the guy kinda sounded like Buck.

@@Mr.Shartly I dunno, Adrianne initially asking the audience to sing with her and then telling them "You sound beautiful" after the 2nd chorus at 4:13 indicate to me that she wanted and appreciated the audience participation. I think the winces you're describing are just her as a musician reacting to the music; many musicians make strange faces when they play, including myself. We've each got our own opinions about this performance and how things went, but I'm glad we can both agree it's a good song.
